This mower is exactly what I am looking for, except for one issue. How does it make any common sense whatsoever to have NO oil drain plug, instead having to wrestle the mower upside down to drain the oil??

Asked by: sha
That's not good. All the advice I could give is to change the spark plug, pull the gas tank and air filter, and make sure there is no water or moister left over. Let the engine dry out and put it back together and try starting it again. Best of luck! :)

How do i get the mower to start again?

I was using this mower for the first time. Everytging was foing fine. Suddenly it shut off and will not start again. It feels like the pull chord is jammed. There is fresh gas, oil, and the handles are not touching the blades.
Asked by: Dave
I bought this mower and the 4th time I used it the engine slowed down then quit.Un-able to get it to run after that.I called Home Depot, they said over the phone that I had 90 days to return it.I took it into the store and they said "no,gas mowers only have 30 days to return".They said they were going out of their way just giving me store credit. It has one of those rubber primers on it so I'm thinking something was wrong with fuel delivery to the carburator.

I purchased a few years ago and at first was working fine, but shortly thereafter it was operating in low revolutions and the engine was missing a lot. Now lately it's always on a high resolution cutting grass. The carburetor mechanism appears to be poor quality it was first missing and working at a low revolution and know it is always high. This mower has given too much problems...it appears to be good only for a year or maybe 2 but thereafter problems will start and continue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why pay more? I moved from the country back to the suburbs. Left my tractor with the new home owner. I always trust the B & S brand. When I saw this mower online I did not hesitate to pick one up. My yard is 10,000 sq feet. Out of the box the mower came 99% assembled. All I had to do was adjust the push handle, put some oil in, and gas it up. The mower started on the first pull. I set the height at number 4 and started mowing. The mulch is very fine, even on wet grass. The high wheels make turns a snap. I really appreciate the value. Please consider this mower if you are looking for an affordable alternative to the bulls and the electrics on the market.

My receipt shows I bought this on May 14, 2016, so it is almost 2 years old. The last 2 years, it has performed fine. After liberal priming with the fuel bulb (usually about 20 pumps before I can start feeling fuel going through the line), the engine will generally start on the first pull. There are a couple of features that I do not like, and both are due to Briggs and Stratton cutting corners on their engine. First is the air filter assembly. Older engines had a metal housing and a screw that went through and held the filter in place. This one has a plastic top that clips into place. I have had many times (like every other mowing) that the plastic cover vibrates free of the little clip that holds it in place. The cover falls off and the foam air filter with it. What a poor design! I would say to avoid this mower because of that, but this same design is on all of the Briggs and Stratton engines now. Unless you are ready to pay double for a Honda or Lawnboy engine, you are going to be stuck with this pour design. The engine company really needs to address this, because it is a big problem for lawns that are not smooth. If I had a smooth lawn, I would not need the big back wheels. Next is the gas cap. It is plastic, makes a 1/4-turn, and stops with a semi-click. I have gone over rough terrain that has caused the gas cap to fall off more than once. Luckily, the gas cap has a safety ring to keep the gas cap from falling off and getting lost.

We moved to a rocky hillside that hadn't been cleared in years, didn't want to spend a fortune doing it. The mower starts easily, runs smoothly. The large back wheels helped us mow through tough weeds easily, even uphill, and over the rough terrain with only minimal "rock-spotting". Maneuvers easily close to obstacles; we won't be needing a trimmer any time soon.

I have ensured all settings are correct, fuel is full, oil is good, and even cleaned the carborator, but the unit will still not work. I do not recommend this product at all.

Bought it in April 2018. Only headache with the mower is if you don't use the mulcher you need to use the grass discharge sleeze, that goes underneath the mulching sleeve. The grass discharge sleeve is always coming off as it does not have a tight fastener. I have to stop several times during cutting to put it back on. It's a pain. I miss the days of having metal mowers and now having to deal with plastic pieces doesn't give you the sense of feeling the mower will have a long life. However, good product for the price.

Not much power, and didn't do a very good job of cutting. It left a lot grass un-cut, even when I slowed my pace. It almost seemed like the blades were dull. From the beginning, it never started well. After winterizing and storing for the colder months, it won't start at all now. I replaced the spark plug and filter, cleaned the carburetor, cleaned the piston, flushed the gas tank several times, but no luck. It doesn't make sense to have someone else fix this, so I'll probably just buy a new mower. I regret purchasing this item.
