can you use this machine without grass catcher/

can you use this machine without grass catcher/
Asked by: 347gre
Of course. I used it without the bag attachment because I wanted it to mulch. This mower did an awesome cut and left no clumps whatsoever on the ground. And it goes. I cut 3/4 of an acre with it! Considering hiring anyone else... I figure 3 cuts and it has paid for itself!

Does Yard Machines Model B9A9729 (163 CC engine) have a ready-start system that requires no priming or choking like Model B1BE729?.

Asked by: Clueless
Yes; there's no priming needed with this mower. You just pull the cord and it starts!

Do this mower use mixed gas

Asked by: Revwillie123
No just regular gas. The oil is in it's own tank and needs to be changed periodically like a car.

I really wanted a Cub Cadet but they didnt have any in store so I settled for this mower. I have been very hard on this mower. I wanted it to blow up so I could buy a cub cadet, so in the last three years, ive never changed or checked the oil. It wont die. I left it out in the snow this winter, fired right up this spring. We got 18" of snow in April this year here in Wisconsin, the mower was in my way and I was mad so I launched that sucker into the back of the garage, nothing broke on it. I cant kill it. It keeps cutting. Starts on the first pull every time. Im sickened by how good this thing is holding up. I let my grass grow to like 8" and Im sure my neighbors were irritated with me but I dont really like them either. I ran the mower through the lawn really fast and I only got it to quit once. Then it started up again, what a tragedy. So anyway, Im gunna spray this thing yellow and put some cub cadet stickers on it. Just kidding, but red is pretty garby just sayin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great mower I used this mower for one full season now. I love it. Easy to assemble out of box. Great power with the190cc engine. I like the design of the bag as you can drop it down throught the handle and mount it. (Previous mower, I had to place the bag under the handle, then reach through the handle to mount). Starts on the first pull everytime. I never seem to fill the bag though, and there is a distinct pattern to the clippings inside the bag. This makes me wonder if it only fills so much due to design / airflow and reverts to mulching. The only downside I can think of is a small amount of clippings left in the recesses of the bag door, which fall to the ground when the bag is removed. You have to either pick them up or back over them when you restart the mower. We'll see how well it does next year after winter storage. I tend to use several storage techniques: run it out of fuel, fill it with fuel which has stabilizer added, or just start the engine every few weeks. Not sure which ill do with this mower yet.

I love the way this mower is SO light & easy to maneuver that I can guide it easily over the rough terrain in parts of my yard. I finally learned not to get features that I don't really use which make the mower heavy. This mower starts so easily, too. I can't think of anything that I dislike about it. The 163cc Briggs & Stratton motor has all the power that I need to cut down heavy weeds & plants such as alfalfa growing in my extended yard. I have had my Yard Machine for about 2 months & was delighted to have it delivered to me. I definitely like it much better than the mower that I had previously. Grass that is heavy & wet does not seem to clog going into the bag as it did on the mower that I had prior to this one. It exceeds my expectations in every way. Please see in attached photo how a 72 year old woman can pull the mower back up a hill because it is so light!!

That mower still works fine but I needed a second one, and this new one is even better: no manual choke or priming bubble. But just like my old mower, it starts with only 1 or 2 pulls of the cord. The Briggs & Stratton motor is a workhorse and I intentionally sought out a mower with a B&S motor. This new mower is easy to handle. It's not self-propelled but doesn't need it. My old mower was purchased to mow 3/4 acre of lawn in the Rockies. This new one is for a hilly 3/4 acre of fescue grass in the Piedmonts and works just as well. Also, changing the wheel height is much easier than my 15-yr old version. The minor assembly is not hard but the pictures on the box do not help; do it with the instructions instead. Also, the grass catcher bag is a bit stiff and doesn't smoothly slide onto the sleeve frame--I only use the mulcher side chute so haven't yet given another the grass catcher another try yet. I strongly recommend this tough little mower. I'm not the handyman type, so any machine that works like it should, year after year, is my choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pure power I have owned this mower for over a year now and I am still impressed every time I use it. It starts every time on the first pull, except for the first mow of the second summer. It was sitting in the garage all winter and it took two pulls. I live in Oregon and the grass is frequently wet. It doesn't care. I tend to skip mowing the yard on some weekend so my grass tends to get tall when I mow. It doesn't care. The only time I heard the engine bogged down was when I hit a two by four that was in the grass. It was a foot long before I ran over it. It came out the the bottom of the mower in nothing over three in inches. The only downside is you may get a little tired pushing this beast around. But it is extremely reliable, it can take a beating, and it is a great price.

After 3 uses on my yard, the mower started to require multiple pulls to start up. Now 6 months into ownership it requires sometimes over 10-14 pulls. Eventually I expect it to not work at all. I should have bought a toro. I originally bought this mower on the reputation of the briggs & Stratton engine. My 12 year old craftsman with a briggs & Stratton motor still starts within 2 pulls. This one is a piece of junk. Avoid all Yard boys, save your self the headache.

Everything was great especially the price almost $100 off the regular price. The bank wheel adjustment lever was twisted and bent a little and the plastic piece that covers the sharp metal on it was broken but other than that I give it 5 stars all the way! I love it. Easy to start. It's actually really quiet and the dust and allergen bag finally holds true to limiting dust! I would buy it again definitely!

After reading many reviews on many lawn mowers I was starting to wonder if there was any good ones out there. I came across a review written by man who is a small engine mechanic. He stated he gets many types of mowers in his shop that folks complained would not start. He went on to say how that 99% of them it was caused by the owner and not the manufacturer. With the addition (watering down) of ethenol in fuel it is important to follow directions. I took the leap of faith and bought this mower. Set up in under 10 minutes. Take the time and read the set up instructions they are clear and precise. Mower started on first pull. Stopped and started several times for a glass of sweet tea and the mower started first pull every time. Grass was very tall thanks to Irmagedon. Used the side discharge to knock it down then bag to pick up. Not a hiccup. It is light weight and rolls easily. The height adjustment was simple, one for the front and one for the back. I am very happy with the purchase.
