Questions & Answers

does it work on gravel

I have a big gravel driveway and I was wondering how well it would work for that?
Asked by: shawn
Yes it does, I have a long section of gravel drive as well that I blow and as long as you have the "skids set up a bit so it hovers over the gravel" your fine. Yes mine will still pick up some rouge stones, but it throws them through with ease.. and I have seen very little wear from the stones... Hope that helps!

would this machine be easy for a woman 5.4 and 160 to operate.

Asked by: sadiegirl
My 5' 6" 140 lb 75 year old can operate it. It has 6 forward and 2 reverse and an engine throttle control. Wheels are locked, for drive purposes, so sharp corners mar be a little difficult.

26 in. 208cc 2-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap Plastic Chute breaks very easy The machine has only been used about 3x times now and this last storm dropped 30 inches of snow the machine runs well although if shut the choke of entirely the engine reeves up and down a bit probably just needs some adjusting. The machine throws fluffy snow well but Boggs down when it gets into the heavy wet stuff and it barely is able to throw it 5 feet and am disappointed with this part of its performance as this is when I need it the most. In this last storm and after the 3rd time using the machine the flange clip that holds the plastic chute broke which is totally unacceptable. The entire chute is very very cheap plastic and does not work well at all when you try to adjust the chute with the handle it often does not align width the teeth so you need to stop and fiddle with it. Can’t say enough about how poor the chute assembly is which a critical piece of the machine. I would not recommend this blower to a friend and will try to sell this spring to get something of better quality,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why oh Why did I wait Why oh why did I wait all these years to purchase a blower. Picked this up the night before a 15" snowfall. I went out twice only because I wanted to make sure everything worked ok and to be honest it was fun. Now the snow we had was the nice light fluffy kind which isn't our normal snow in Central New Jersey. It cut it like butter and tossed it a good 20'. Even when I got down to the plowed muck at the end of the driveway, nice and easy. Love the one handed operation once you get it going, gave me a chance to rest a hand from squeezing. Would have liked a head light and will look at the power coming out of the hand grip heater port. Probably rig my own light from that. Quality is good from what I see, obviously only used once so hasn't been put through the paces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I wish I had bought this years ago After dealing with incompetent and reliable snow plow operators, I decided to purchase a snow blower. I have a very long driveway with two turnarounds. I have been hand shoveling it mostly with the occasional need for a professional. I live in Michigan and get plenty of Lake Effect snow. This machine has a bit of a learning curve. Once you get it down, it is simply a matter of finding the right clearing method to use on your driveway. It took me about 3 times before I developed a good pattern. Once I figured that out, my 350 foot plus driveway takes less than an hour to clear. Note: I also had the problem with the directional control of the chute mentioned in other reviews. I fixed it by loosening the bolts that connect the spiral to the shoot and moving them closer. I then tightened them down and haven't had a problem since. I found out how to do it by reading the manual.

This newer model is a piece of junk. There isn't any way to keep the hand controls in the on position to prevent hand fatigue. The auger on the chute crank doesn't even connect with the teeth on the chute. You have to keep turning the chute by hand. It doesn't handle heavy wet snow, and even the fluffy stuff it only throws 5 or 6 feet. When the temp is in the 20's the last thing you want to do is having to keep turning the chute by hand or unplugging the chute. I wish I had known all of this beforehand, I'd never have bought it. The only Pro is: it's lighter weight

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product HOWEVER, this snowblower does NOT come with the power/extension cord for the electric start Its a great product for the price (once it starts), however, this snowblower does NOT come with the power/extension cord needed for the electric start to actually be useful. You have to purchase it separately somewhere else. It seems absolutely ridiculous to promote/sell an "ELECTRIC START GAS SNOW BLOWER" and NOT INCLUDE the power cord. This makes the electric start feature absolutely useless. The manufacturer (& Home Depot) claims they no longer include the power/extension cord becuse they can now lessen the overall price of the product. Seems a bit cheap given the fact that other manufacturers, even with their smaller, cheaper snowblowers do include a powercord which makes this Yard Machine product seem substandard, even if it is a very good machine. The price of purchasing the cord is not an issue, it just the extra hassel and time waisted unnecessarily, which could have been avoided. I am extremely surprised no other reviewer has mentioned this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This machine is a work horse!!!!!!! This snow blower is a beast. It threw five inches of slush and snow. It works excellent with powder snow. The only thing that wasn't good was the snow shoot mechanism. It has a crank but doesn't work very well so you have to turn the shoot by hand from time to time. Other than that I am extremely satisfied with this machine and recommend it to anyone.

I live in Western New York and we do get some harsh winter snow storms. This snow blower had a pretty easy limited assembly to it. Got it at the end of winter 2017 and used three times without problems. Started on first pull, but it is brand new. Has right hand hold on movement with left hand (once snow impeller starts) free to direct snow 180 degrees right, left or forward. Strong machine -and being in my seventies, I had to reduce throttle to slow it down. It is heavier than my old machine, but on a scale of one to ten, I'd give it a nine. Does get the job done and to me that's what counts.
