Will this solution harm plants-shrubs around deck_

Will this solution harm plants-shrubs around deck_
Asked by: pat
Yes - it can. You should first wet down the plants, then cover them with something like a cheap plastic drop cloth (in the paint department). You'll want to minimize the amount of time the deck cleaner is in contact with the plants, and also make sure that if the solution gets to the soil, you rinse down with a LOT of clean water if you don't want to kill the plants. Make sure you rinse down the plastic sheeting afterwards, before removing it from your plants, so you don't inadvertently drip chemical directly on the plants.

Does this product contain bleach ?

Asked by: rwoz
No. This is a non-chlorine product.Aerating bleach is dangerous to the eyes, lungs, fauna, pets and more. This product works less aggressively than straight bleach but without the nasty side effects, risks, or wood color destruction.

I am planning to put new stain on my deck, I was hoping this Product will work on removing the old stain .

I used this product as instructed with Pressure washer. I did not remove the old stain . Is this product meant for removing old stain or I need to get the stain stripper ?
Asked by: swaphd
Just used on a 6' cedar fence in poor condition and it worked great. It will, imho, require a pressure washer. Using this product will make the pressure washing process much easier and also less risk of damaging the wood with over-aggressive pressure or surface contact. Do not let the product dry. Use on overcast or cool day if possible so product has time to work properly. Dilute per instructions.

Does your Deck & Fence Cleaner remove gray oxidation from wood.

This gray coloring appears to also be caused by UV light.

I soaped my fake-wood deck down with this using down with my pressure washer then used hi-pressure rinse to clean it. The next day, there were lots of areas where the soap did not lift the green pollen that had landed on the deck. Seems like you need a scrubbing brush.. if that is the case, why use a soap?

Even when I mixed it at a higher ratio than recommended it didn't work great. I even poured it on straight in a couple of areas and saw little difference. Just using a power washer did more than this stuff but it was actually removing wood which is not good for the deck.

As information, I did not use this product, because it contained chemicals that would likely damage adjacent shrubbery. As a result, I am returning this product to the Home Depot - Chaska store. However, I did use the Pep "All Purpose" cleaner on my composite deck and initial results are good!

The dirt/moss/algae did not come off any easier. My pressure washer cleaned other untreated areas of my fence just as quickly and easily. Perhaps this product would work better on a deck.

I purchased this yesterday to clean our deck and all I can say is that it did absolutely nothing it seems. It didn't loosen or kill any of the light mildew on trex decking. I'm not sure what this is really supposed to be for as cleaning wood seemed to not be its forte'.

The Zep deck and patio cleaner even cleaned the darkest mildew right off of the painted and non-painted areas of our deck. We couldn't have been happier with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did a great job I needed to clean my mother's badly grayed and stained deck. Mixed this product at 25:1, apllied via downstream injector, let set and then used a white tip with a pressure washer. Results were phenomenal. Now i just need to apply sealer

I used the heaviest concentration/ratio...Even heavier than the bottle recommended...I left it on the deck for around 30 minutes or so..Would have left it longer, but didn't want it to dry on there.....Point is, it did little to nothing... MIGHT be worth just putting it in a separate sprayer and spraying it directly on the deck.. I looked at the areas where it was applied and saw no evidence that it was removing/breaking up anything...I still had to hold my (electric) pressure washer pretty close to the deck, using the 15° nozzle to actually remove dirt... I was suspicious since the liquid is clear and hardly suds up at all, that there was little to no active ingredient in it.. I will try it again on the house siding/garage, etc. and see if it does any better there... Maybe it will work better on the comp roof? I would think that a horizontal, "rough" surface like a deck would be it's ideal test, since it gets to just sit there and work... Will have to investigate the ingredients and see if it can be "supercharged" with TSP or Baking Soda Or OxyClean...
