Multipurpose Reducer is used to transition floors of unequal height from wood/laminate floors to carpet, vinyl or tile. This molding will provide a seamless look when transitioning between flooring surfaces. Coordinates with laminate flooring providing a beautiful finished look.

I need to go from a 12mm floor to an 8 mm floor. Will this work?

AnswerI have not used this product for this purpose but because it's labeled a reducer, I would assume it could work. Be advised this trim should not be used for a high traffic area as it is a very thin finish over another substrate. If you have a high traffic area, I would get oak trim and stain it to match the laminate. I did that and it looks great. Home Depot has a large selection of trim.

AnswersThe included screws are about a #6 and about 1 inch long. If you're installing directly on a concrete slab, you'll need to drill into the floor slats and into the concrete for these screws to actually fit. It might be recommended to replace these screws with shorter screws to avoid having to drill into your concrete slab. If not, the included screws will raise the flooring of the slab due to their length.
My height difference is greater than 5/16. Is there one that can accommodate this?

AnswersNot to my knowledge. For longer areas, you may have to put several together. Be advised I wouldn't recommend this product for high traffic areas as it's a thin veneer over another substrate. You're better off getting oskbtrim and staining to match.

Good product IF you’re careful!
Bought this to transition from linoleum to the matched flooring. First attempt I broke the piece due to user malfunction (fortunately I didn’t need the test so I simply remade the piece). The reason it broke was I didn’t align the groove with the metal track properly and slightly bent the track. Make sure you align the groove on the lower edge! To the manufacturer: directions indicating this possibility would be good to include. Final product looks great

Perfect. Flooring was from another store, this transition strip not only matched great but was easy to install.
Only comes with 3 screws for an 8 foot piece, otherwise would be 5 stars.
Word of advice, it fits tight (as it should) so use a rubber mallet and start with one side, then work across to the other end. You have to hit it fairly firm, that’s why you should use a rubber mallet.

I used this reducer to go between the laminate flooring and some linoleum. I only needed about 30” of the 72” so, I guess I have some extra for next time. It would be nice of they sold it in 36” sticks. The metal piece was easy to cut with tin snips and the molding was easily cut in my chop saw. One thing to make sure is to verify that the metal piece is not bent before installation. That way the molding snaps in and holds. Other than having to purchase twice what I need, this molding works well. It installed relatively easily, is solid and feels good when stepping on it.

We're extremely happy with the initial look and quality of these transitions. We skipped the included metal U channels and just used a clear silicone to adhere the boards to the flooring. Allowed 24 hours with weights resting on the strips, while silicone cured. Positioned weights every 18". Worked beautifully!
