I never had to shorten this, and mine currently stands 7 foot 6 inches. I don't know if it will allow for more height. I purchased mine a few years ago when we redid our master bath. Sure hope that helps you
There is a couple of approaches that I would take. First of all, if you just bought the shower caddy and opened the box to find that there were missing parts, the easiest thing to do is simply return it to Home Depot and get a replacement. Otherwise, I would try to get the vendor information and contact them directly.
