Questions & Answers
Why is the Amp Rating not marked on the handle? How will this pass inspection? Color is exactly the same as the 25A 2-pole.
The amperage rating is printed on the physical breaker. Images used for the product pages online may differ but the actual breaker does have all the required markings on it.
What is the difference between this VPKUBIZ and the UBIZ breaker of the same rating?
VPK is a packaging designation just meaning the breaker is in a sealed plastic clamshell, the breaker itself is the same between the two SKUs. The VPK versions are intended to be displayed on store shelves but are carried as separate SKUs by HD.
SCE had a brief disruption of power for 10 seconds, a/c tripped and a breaker in my Panel won't set it clicks but lights won't work in bathroom. I need a new breaker to replace a zisco 15 amp. Is this what I need?
If your existing breaker is a 2 pole, 15A circuit breaker then you would want the UBIZ0215 circuit breaker. This UBIZ0230 circuit breaker has two 30A poles and would be oversized for that circuit.
Can this be used with #6 wire?
Yes it is compatible with 6awg wire.
Since this is a single slot version, can I use this for nema 14/50 EV charger?
Yes you can use it in any application the full size version is used. The only difference is the smaller physical size of the thin types for panels that have limited space.
Is this breaker all new? I had an electrician, who was trying to sell me an all new panel, claim that these are old Zinsco breakers that have been refurbished. (I don't believe Home Depot would sell refurbished breakers)
New from Connecticut electric
We installed ourselves, wasn't hard.
These are all new breakers to fit Zinsco and Sylvania Zinsco STYLE panels. It would be wise to start saving for a new panel or get it changed out now if you can afford it. Otherwise, just buy this new breaker while you save up for a new panel.
Your Electrician is a little off... The panels are bad & it shows in the breakers, undertripping, overtripping, melting, catching fire... At $100 ea., if you need lots, update the panel... I just replaced one that 1/2 overheated from unplg&replug dryer
Connecticut Electric only manufactures and sells new circuit breakers. We are the only manufacturer of new, listed replacements for use in Zinsco panels and Home Depot is an authorized distributor.
50 amp 3/4 in 2 pole zinsco RC3850
Not likely you will find this breaker in a store, but you can order it and have it in 3 or 4 days. I know of only one source to get this breaker the same day, but it isn't a box store.
In store availability is very limited and you would have to contact your local store for inventory. Ordering online is typically the easiest.
Will this take aluminum conductors, or only copper?
This breaker will accept either copper or aluminum branch circuit conductors.
For the love of god: read what it says on the side of the breaker. If you are using AL wire use a NOALOX compound and always torque to the correct Nm (also printed on the side of the breaker ). If none of this makes sense; back away and get a QUALIFIED PERSON to do the job!
The breaker is rated for both aluminum and copper wire.
