Gummy Gums
I used to love zinsser products but after the recent voc changes its justvnot the same. The spray dries nice and smooth but if you do need to sand it, it gums up the paper badly. Thats even after drying over night. All thier products just dont seem.to dry like they used to.

Let's talk about this! Our paints and primers, including Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Plus Primer Spray, cures from the outside in. This means that the film develops first, but the paint closer to the surface will be softer for longer than the top. Please keep in mind, cooler temperatures, higher humidity, or a heavier coat will extend the listed dry times.

This stuff ruined several brand new vinyl shutters.
The claim that this product "sticks to all surfaces" is demonstrably false.
With winter coming, I was in a hurry to get some blue vinyl shutters primed/painted/installed, so I foolishly skipped testing this product on a small area of one shutter to confirm adhesion.
After spraying several brand new shutters and allowing them to dry for a couple days, I was alarmed to discover that the primer would effortlessly flake off with a fingernail.
I then tried spraying one of the primed blue shutters with the hose on a tight stream, and the result is pictured.
The stuff sticks to the point that it cannot be completely removed without a great deal of work, but it clearly is not a reliable base layer for paint that will withstand the elements long-term.
I'm left forced to either risk installing shutters that will likely look terrible within a few months, spend hours trying to remove this primer, or buy new shutters.
Needless to say, I wish I had gone with another product for this project.

This primer is amazing, especially over spakle. It levels out as you spray. Very little fixes to be made, and these were all my fault for overspraying a few areas. Great bonding! Finally looking forward to painting my gloss, after a few bad choices earlier which cost me weeks of work.

Good Product - Gone Bad
Good Product gone bad!
We build and repurpose lots of furniture. About 8 months ago we started using Rust-Oleum Zinnser Bulls eye 123 Spray Primer Gray and we loved it.
The past few months we have not had one good can out of the countless cases we have bought.
We can shake the can for 20 minutes upon opening a can and continuous during application, spray short bursts, keep it stored in our home in room temperature conditions. We have even tried storing the cans upside down after shaking.
"NOTHING" WORKS :(
The cans "Spit", "Sputter", "Throw droplets onto our projects and all over the area we are working on and below", " drips BADLY at the valve to the point it drips on the ground, all over the can and builds up"!!!
You don't get a nice even texture due to this malfunction.
We are so discouraged and hope Rust-Oleum listens to consumers complaints as we would love to see a fix to this problem.
I have videos of several cans I would love to share with Rust-Oleum that supports my review and frustration. I have attached on video, and a couple photos for starters.
To those who have no issues, We are "seriously jealous"

Oh no! We don’t like to hear that! Certainly it is important to thoroughly shake the can prior to use, and occasionally during use as well. The can should be shaken for no less than one minute after the mixing ball in the can begins to rattle. This ensures that the product is mixed well, and prevents larger particles from being sprayed through the nozzle. You also want to make sure the finger that presses down on the nozzle stays clean and free of any paint. It is important to have your index finger centered on the nozzle itself. If your finger is too forward it can cause some blocking of the spray mist as it comes out of the can, which can cause sputtering or larger drops to be sprayed on the surface. If you find that these adjustments still are not helping, please give us a call at (888) 855-1774 to discuss this further.

This is a good product. I repainted so chairs and it covered all the spots that would show up thru the new paint well. I just had one disappointment, I have bought several can of this product from home depot and another competitor store. I just recently had to purchase 2 more cans from home depot and 6 cans from the competitor store. Three of the six cans from the competitor store clogged up from the start and 1 of the two from home depot.

Needed 4 coats to cover dark clothing dye stains on...
Needed 4 coats to cover dark clothing dye stains on a white wall. Tge area was about 8 inches by 8 inches so not large.
I was expecting to need only one application but needed more than expected. The product is less expensive and less effective than the Killz Stain cover I used in the past. But it did the job. Just need more of it.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experinece! Please keep in mind, Rust-Oleum Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Plus Primer Spray will trap most stains in the film of the primer. So, while some stain may be visible in the primer once dry, they will not bleed through with the final coat.
