Q:Can this be used for fire rated construction? The current plans call for the wall to receive 1/2? Sheetrock for a 1 hour rating. In lieu of using the 1/2? sheet rock we want to install the 9/16? ship lap boards directly to the studs.

I used these as an accent wall in our bathroom. The boards met my wife’s stringent eye for quality. The finished job looks great.

Could be a lot better. At least the boards were straight.
I purchased 19 of these boards to shiplap a wall in my house. All but 2 of them had messed up square ends. We had to sand or cut to square them properly. Also had a couple with the wood splitting at the ends which forced me to buy boards that were not in good shape in order to complete my project due to lack of a large inventory. Once we installed them on my wall they looked nice. These should be ready to install, especially at this price point.

Shiplap fire place
We did the shiplap above our fireplace and used the left over for an accent wall where the light switch is. Our contractor ended up installing it. Overall looks good we used a 1/4 round boarder to make it look more seamless. Some of the edges did need to be covered up a bit as it cracked while cutting but u can’t really tell. The nails were easily hidden with the recommended white wood putty you can’t even tell that it has nails through it. We still have to paint them but I think it looks great even without painting.

This was my first experience in using shiplap but after watching several videos etc I decided to go with this product rather than going the DIY route with rip cutting plywood. Having the boards ready to go with the spacing already there and them being primed was well worth the slightly higher cost. I painted all the boards before installing leading to a much cleaner look. If debating on using these or creating your "own shiplap" this product is the way to go in my opinion! LOVE my new bathroom!

I found out the hard way this is for interior use only. The HD display tag did not specify. After...
I found out the hard way this is for interior use only. The HD display tag did not specify. After I returned the boards the manufacture returned my phone call, and said it would be ok for a patio cover ceiling if it stayed dry, but would not guarantee it. I only had 3 rows up, when I noticed some of the boards has a made in Chile sticker and had an umbrella symbol crossed out. The made in Mexico boards did not. Home Depot was great about my returning the boards. Like with all wood products, you have to weed out the warped boards. The 3 rows I did looked great. I was very disappointed that I had to return them and search for an alternative ceiling product. Installation suggestion. Use a rafter square to gauge a slightly wider gap. This allows addition plus or minus movement when pushing or pulling boards for warpage. There is some.
