The description says it has a "multitude of inputs" but only list "3.5mm audio input"... One of the comments mentions an optical cable but was kind of vague as to whether they wish it had one or that it had one... My question is what types of inputs / connections does it have other than 3.5mm? Does it have an optical connection? This question is not as important but is just a matter of convenience if known: If I use the optical connection (if it has one) do you know if my TV remote will control the speaker volume on this sound bar at the same time as my TV without having to use the included sound bar remote?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't let the small price and size discourage you This small footprint sound bar solved, at least for now, a quandary with my wife and myself. Being a retired Marine and also a professional musician along with being an audiophile, I never settle for substandard audio. My wife has been upset with me for the aesthetics, size and weight of all my discreet audio components and large speaker cabinets that occupy most of the real estate in our living room. This short sound bar was supposed to be my first experiment in scaling down my audio system to appease my wife. Understanding that there is no system that can ever beat the sound of my all vacuum tube audio components, I was pleasantly surprised in the iLive compact 20" sound bar's clarity and full range flat frequency response using the optical input from such small drivers which appear to be somewhere between 2" and 3" in size. There also appears to be 2 oval passive radiators molded into the heavy, dense material plastic cabinet that enhance the mid bass response that make the system sound and feel like a much larger system. I'm now researching and demoing multiple sound bars for a superior future purchase, but will take my time as the iLive compact 20" sound bar's sound quality far exceeds it's low price. The added plus of being able to stream high quality digital music from our smart devices through the iLive compact 20" sound bar via Bluetooth opens up the idea of purchasing one for each room and one for the garage and another for our large enclosed outdoor patio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fine speaker ! I have nine (9) of these in my home. The speakers are small and mount easily to the wall. They have RCA INPUTS, OPTICAL INPUTS, 3.5 MM, AND BLUETOOTH. The input panel is tucked into the back. The remote has FULL control. The sound is full, despite not having a subwoofer. In usual iLIVE fashion, you won't find fake specifications or boasting about wattage. Instead, you find solid quality for a nice price. I am very satisfied !

Unfortunately I had to return it because it was not compatible with my new Samsung Smart tv. I am using rabbit ears, and that part is not compatible, but I tried it with a laptop to test the speaker and it worked great and has good sound. But I don't need it for the laptop, I was looking for a small size soundbar for the tv, so I returned it. The tv is not bluetooth compatible, the only external speaker connection is by an optical cable only. I really wished it would have worked because this speaker is the right size and sounded great on the little test I did.
