Customer Reviews

Roomba 690 Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 417.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Roomba 690 review 1. Roomba 690 often spends too much time in one area and I usually have to manually move it to another area. This is not due to obstructions. 2. Roomba 690 has a round sensor that protrudes on the top front portion of the Roomba. This often gets hung up under cabinets in my kitchen. Also hangs up on my couch & love seat. If this sensor didn't protrude above the Roomba it would clear things a lot easier. This protruding sensor is bad design, please fire the engineer who put this feature on top of the Roomba. This feature alone is enough reason not to buy a model, Roomba 690 in this case, with this protrusion. 3. If you have any rugs or carpets that have a sculpted pile, you'll probably going to have problems. I have a short pile sculptured small rug in my entry hall and Roomba will find its way onto the rug and almost always shuts down because it gets confused continuously moving back/forth/left/right until it ultimately shuts down. 4. Battery life is good. 5. Cleaning performance is good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for pet owners and busy households! My husband got me this Roomba as a Christmas gift after much prodding that I desperately wanted/needed one. We have two dogs, one of them is a large German Shepard who sheds quite a bit. Since getting the Roomba I've gone from sweeping/vacuuming every day, to sweeping/vacuuming just one day a week. For a household with two kids in activities it has been a huge time saver for me. I don't know how I lived without it!! It does not replace a regular vacuum, but it helps out with the day-to-day messes. I love the fact that you can set up a cleaning schedule through the Roomba app and we can run it during the day after we leave for work/school. We've had a few issues with it getting stuck under some of our furniture. We added some sticky felt pads (stacked two high and secured with Gorilla Glue) to the top of the Roomba to keep it from going too far under the furniture. This has seemed to help out some and we've had more success keeping the Roomba running while we are away.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not quite what I expected I received the 690 as a gift from my kids. I was excited to use it. The first time I used it I noticed it ran into furniture relatively hard. It would my my heavy dining room chairs, on hardwood, about 1/4". This made me concerned that it would mark the Furniture over time. It went into my carpeted family room. The firniture seemed to confuse it. After an hour and a half it stopped. It never retuned to its charging stand. Out of the five times I used it it found the charging stand once before it stopped with a low battery. On carpet the 690 picked up most debris but missed a lot of spots. On tile and hard wood floors it had trouble picking much up. It would blow the cat hair way as it moved. I watched it roll over small crumbs and a little dropped flour on type without disturbing the crumbs or flour. In the end I retuned the 690 and purchased a 980. The 980 is worth the extra money. The 690 just made noise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for the lazy neatfreak The Roomba is a decent machine. It can clean while you do other tasks and it does an alright job. It misses some spots and gets stuck in weird spots sometimes for seemingly no reason. It has a hard time finding the charging base when you send it home if it is not close to it. In all you still have to vacuum or sweep once in a while to get it really clean but it helps keep down the bulk of it in the meantime. I would hope for an update that had better mapping, since it seems very inconsistent, and for a larger bin to hold the debris.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great helper I read a lot of reviews and really researched this before I requested my husband buy for me. I have to say in our 2 dog and 2 child household this little gadget really helps decrease the amount I have to vacuum. I have a multi surface home, carpet, (medium and low pile) vinyl, hard wood and the roomba seems to tackle them all. You have to be realistic with expectations. I didn't expect the roomba to replace my vacuum, just to help minimize the amount of time I spent vacuuming, and it does just that. It helps to maintain a clean house. If you want a deeper clean, you still have to use a regular vacuum because the irobot doesn't have strong enough suction, which I understand or else it wouldn't be able to move. Give the robot time, it does seem to learn your house, obstacles and patterns. I read some reviews and think people are just not realistic with their expectations. When it goes to dock, give it time. It may take a circle or two but it will find its home. I also have dark area rugs and have no problems with my robot going over them. It doesn't detect them as a cliff. I also don't think it's as noisy as reviews portrayed either. It sounds like a kid's toy that has a wind up operation. Overall, I love this little robot. It helps to maintain clean floors and has really reduced the amount of time I have to spend vacuuming.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product Roomba works very well, even on pet hair. I just put it in the area I want cleaned and start it when I leave the house. I have a large dog and it does amazingly well on the pet hair. It would be nice if it not as noisy. I can't run it when I am home due to the noise, I wish it would run longer. Even in my small house it takes several uses to cover the whole area. The collection bin could be larger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It gets stuck a lot I have a parrot who is messy and lives on the main floor of the house. I love how the Roomba keeps his area so much cleaner and gives the rest of the floor a quick clean up, making my job (sweeping the corners) much simpler and less time consuming. The downside to this little vacuum is that it is probably best used in carpeted areas. I have wood flooring and although it does a good job cleaning for the most part, the spinning brush ends up flinging larger debris across the room and does not end up sweeping it up at any point. It also gets stuck a lot. Under the couch and under the fridge door. It has also tried to take a tumble down the stairs a number of times (we are using the "no-go" beacon to keep it from getting to an end table with a lot of cords around it). In all I really do like my Roomba but I consider it to be more of a luxury than a necessity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Spoiled Now Nice to not have to drag out the upright. I do have to watch for hanging lamp cords. She once pulled a lamp over. She also closed the door to a closet and trapped herself inside. I now section off each area. The rubber flexible brush does a good job of dusting. She climbs easily over area rugs and her side brush picks up debris along the edges. She gets under the beds better than I ever could have. Sometimes she quits in hard to access places and does not always return to base for charging (maybe because our house is large?). While she is working, I can get so much more house cleaning done! Totally spoiled now!
