Questions & Answers

Does this contact your phone when the motion sensor is triggered outside you house. What if I want to customize...

This package, I might want only 3 motion sensors and the cube. Have enough camera's in the house. But this depends of course if it contacts your phone.
Asked by: Dragonslayer2065
Yes, you can set it up to contact your phone if the motion sensor is triggered.

Can I use the motion sensor outside?

The HD website states "indoor/outdoor" motion sensor (Model PIR3), but when Dragonslayer2065 asked his question about phone notifications, the iSmartAlarm representative explained that all their sensors are for indoor use only. I'm confused. iSmartAlarm please reply.
Asked by: NeedOutdoorMotionSensor
The owners manual states that it should not get wet. The devices don't do well with moisture or humidity. The manual also outlines the allowed temperature ranges. It further states that if the sensors were stored at freezing temperatures, that they should be warmed up before use. These things tell me that these devices just aren't meant for outdoor use even though it isn't explicitly stated anywhere. I believe what the representative said in the other post is correct. They are indoor use only.

iSmartAlarm Home Security System Preferred Package is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from HOME SECURITY SYSTEM I have been using this alarm system for couple of months, This is actually my second alarm system. I used to have some other alarm system before but this set is much better. I really like the pushed notifications on this Ismart alarm. Whenever somebody opens the door, it send a notification to my phone and i can actually go and check whats going on in my house using my icamera that i purchased separately but compatible with this alarm set. this is the best decision that i have ever made. The chime function is loud also and even my dogs starts barking when they hear a door chime from upstairs. IPreferred package comes with 2 keychains for people who doesn't want to use their phone app, 2 door sensors that you can add more in the future and motion sensor .Currently i can't use motion sensor because i have 2 dogs running around the house all day and night. Overall this package is great for 2 bedroom condo units. That's all you need. Thank you Ismart, you are really smart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system. Easy to use!! We bought extra components! This is a really good security system. We added the window sensors to our two back sliding glass doors and we have it set up to send notifications to our phone if the sensors open. We don't use the remote controls that come with the unit because we only use the App that we downloaded to our phones. We ended up buying the accessory camera. It is great. You can control the camera with your phone, it pivots and goes up and down but whoever is set up as the primary administrator on the account, the other person can use their own sign on, but has to scan both the camera and the actual sensors from a barcode on the administrators phone. Once you do that, both phones can use both functions. The photos I've uploaded are 1- the view from the camera that you can snap a photo, plus you can listen to what goes on in the room if you buy the camera. The other picture is the view on your phone app if you download that (it's free).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Home Security System This security package has everything you need to secure your home, with simple add-ons and ability to upgrade whenever or needed. This kit comes with the base, 2 door sensors, 1 motion sensor and 2 key chain remotes. Everything is wireless except for the base hub, which requires an Ethernet connection. Installation and setup is guided through their free app either on a phone or tablet. This app gives you control as well as notifications of the status of your system. The provided key chains are somewhat of an annoyance do to the fact that you can easily set the alarm off because the buttons can easily be pushed, even when putting into your pocket. I have been reluctant to use the remotes and leave one in my car. Additionally the system will call you if the alarm is set off. The system requires an active internet connection at all times to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation Extremely Easy - Great DIY Security System! I was able to get this system installed and working within minutes. It was very simple to do. You must connect the Cube hub to your modem. Make sure you have what is necessary to connect it. Like an ethernet cable and a port to connect it to. Everything else was wireless and I did not have any connection issues at all. The window/door sensors were magnetic to mount it to metal, but also there was more than enough double sided tape included in the package if you needed it. My sensors did not line up exactly, but it still worked perfectly. The system is forgiving if your door jambs or window sills are slightly at different depths. The motion detector appears to be indoor use only. If there is an alert, you will get an email, phone call, and phone notification. It all seems to work very well. You must make sure your wireless network stays connected for it all to work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from iSmartAlarm Home Security Alarm system came in a beautiful Cube. This set includes 2 key fobs for those how don’t have the phone app and need to disable the alarm system before the get in. Good for visiting parents and guests. It has a metal hook and can easily be attached to any key chain. Nice and light design. There were two sensors as well. They consist of two pieces that magnetically connect to each other. Once they’re set, when window or door opens and these two parts loose connection, alarm activates. One motion sensor came with sticky pads for installation. Also it has screw holes for permanent installation which I prefer. It looks great on my wall and works accurately. In order for this system to work, I had to connect the cube directly to my router and plug it to a power source. To be able to activate I had download the application online, directly into my phone. The application helps you step by step to insure proper set up. First you need to create an account, than search for the available devices which brings all 4 into the list. Once all the devices are in the list you can easily set the alarm on or disable with one press to the related button on the phone screen. My overall experience is much better that I expected specially setting up the control wirelessly. There are options that you can arm, disarm alarm in 30 seconds or several minutes. There is also panic button that enables you activate alarm. This is a starter kit; in the future I am planning to add more magnetic alarms to all my windows and other additions to protect my house better. Good thing about this product, I don’t have to pay monthly fees for the security services, easy to install and manage. All the items look great and sleek. I like the design and the weight of the each item. Installation was easy; set up was easier. If you are looking for the set to start with, this has all the starter pieces you need for basic security. You also can receive a phone call and notifications if alarm activated. This is a very convenient feature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good security system I wanted an alarm system that gave me text message notification of an alarm event and this device does just that. It actually texts, calls, and even emails me when the alarm is set off. It's relatively easy to setup, add and remove additional sensors, and the battery life in seems pretty good as well. I haven't had any issues with false alarms, or it going off when it shouldn't be. A few complaint that I have is that the alarm should be louder and there should be more cameras included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DIY Alarm System This is a fantastic alarm system that is seriously worth considering if you're in the market. The preferred package comes with 2 door/window magnet sensors that have 2 sets of adhesive tape each (in case you mess up during the mounting process - good thinking)! Also includes a motion sensor that has a fairly wide field of view and picked me up during testing so the sensitivity is just right (light changes don't throw it off). The base itself is a nice white cube that easily stows near your router and communicates with the sensors. Also comes with a few hand held remotes which I may or may not use. Lastly, you get a set of stickers for letting passerby's not to mess with your place. The entire installation was done in 20-30 mins assuming you spend some time thinking about how you want to set up your system. The app is my favorite part by far. Love being able to activate/deactivate the system remotely and monitor the status of each sensor. For example, I have one on my garage door which lets me know if the garage door is opened or closed. Brilliant! That alone is a feature that makes this system very well worth it. Once the system is armed, the base emits a counter when you trigger a sensor and gives you between 30 seconds to 3 mins (depending on configuration) to disarm. If you don't disarm you get a moderately loud siren (not deafening) and a phone call & text & push notification letting you know the system has gone off. Therefore its up to you to call the cops or investigate. Paired with an IP camera (which I had prior to getting this system), this is a fantastic way to remotely monitor your house and save the money that would otherwise go to monitoring fees. Another nice feature is you can have push notifications that let you know when a sensor is tripped and which it is, even if the system is disarmed. Also, features a "home" mode which allows you to disable motion detection and just use the exterior sensors. Lastly and most importantly, its been reliable and I haven't had any false alarms (so far). Overall, very impressed and highly recommend!
