  • Provides an accurate measurement of both pH and moisture levels
  • Allows for simple adjustments to maximize plant and grass growth
Plants need the correct pH level which controls how well plants utilize the nutrients available in your soil. All plants have a pH preference, so it is important to know the pH level of your soil. You can then choose plants with the same pH preferences, avoid those that will not do well in your soil or know how to go about supplying their special growing needs. By testing your soil, you determine its condition so that you can adjust pH more accurately, effectively and economically.
  • Easy to use, simply push the probe in to wet soil, the meter will register pH levels on a scale, check read out against the pH preferences to find plants that best suit your conditions
  • A successful garden depends on the right pH
  • Also great to use in lawns to achieve a lush, thick, green lawn
  • Determines soil acidity and alkalinity
  • Meter will also measure moisture at the root level
  • No batteries required

Questions & Answers

Can this product use to measure the ph of a liquid , for kids science fair project?

Asked by: Tara
I'm not sure but I expect not. Better to use a low-cost pool or pond water quality tester. They are basic litmus paper and provide reliable and meaningful results.

Looking at all the other reviews, people who want to measure moisture are happy -- lots of 5s -- but people looking to measure pH are disappointed. I'm in the latter group. I have a fairly large yard with some parts under pine trees and others out in the open. Suspecting that the soil under the trees was more acidic so I'd need more lime there to help the lawn, I started probing around with this meter in pH mode. First, it's important to note that when it senses acidity, the needle rises slowly. If you don't wait a few seconds, you'll think it's not doing anything. Quite a few people have said the needle doesn't move; I'm sure some of them haven't given it the needed time (and the instructions don't mention it). The readings I get are all over the map. There is no correlation between acidity reading and proximity to trees, or to lushness of the grass. Some super green lawn areas read very high acidity; others read normal. The areas with the least healthy grass have readings just as varied. I find it hard to believe these correlations are not there. But I won't know until I send some samples off to a lab, which I'm going to do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Where to buy I went to a couple of home deposit stores in northern Virginia. No sale associates know about the product. One insisted that it is an online product. Help Home Depot ! Where to get the ph meter
