A: This board is only 7 1/2” or 7 3/4” wide so wouldn’t cover the 4” full depth you’re needing if that’s your true measurement. It’s also typical to use a 1X for the thickness. It’s also difficult to nail a 2X to the fascia truss tails if that’s what you’re doing? Predrill and use screws, keeps the board from twisting more. Unless you have a table saw or are using guides, ripping the lengths straight can be difficult. Double check your actual width requirements to be sure in case you decide to purchase this item.

A: ***correction to my previous answer*** this is a 2x12 so finished widths are approximately 1 1/2” x 11 1/2” so you could get 2 pieces 4” wide out of it or if you only need 4” width then you could also use a 2x10

A: Gone are the days when wood was pressure treated with creosote or arsenic compounds. Modern pressure treatment uses a copper compound that is safe for use in home vegetable gardens. The wood does not need to be sealed.
