Q:Do I use 150 medium grit or 150 fine grit for sanding drywall? I patched a hole in the wall and I am confused about what 150 grits I should use for my first coat, second and maybe third. From what I understand I should use 150 all the way.

A:  Thanks for asking! Yes they can be cut down to fit onto a power tool. Palm sander - Sheet sander. The backing is a no slip grip so you will need to use wax paper between the back up pad and sanding sheet. A:  Hi DLO.....The sandpaper your refeering to is a precision grade sandpaper thatn can be used wet or dry. What you will need is similar to the following which can be found at your local Home Depot. Start your sanding using the medium to knock off the high ridges than use the fine to finish it off. 3MPro-Pak 4-3/16 in. x 11-1/4 in. 100 Grit Medium Drywall Sanding Screens (10-Pack) 3MPro-Pak 4-3/16 in. x 11-1/4 in. 180 Grit Fine Drywall Sanding Screens (10-Pack)

A:  These would work well - and a good investment to have on hand for a number of projects. Wrap these around a short piece of 2x4 or such to give a good grip and have at it. Remember to vacuum the spot before painting! Good luck!

A:  Great question! Just guessing here, but I would use MEDIUM, then FINE. Since the spackle will clog the sandpaper, I would get a scrub brush with plastic bristles from the dollar store to unclog the paper. The bristles should 'massage' your skin (not scratch).

A:  Yes, but this will give you a rough finish. You may want to follow up with a finer grit or use 320 instead.

A:  Why not? It may not last too long, though. Make sure you wear mask for the metal dust.
