                      Answer This Question

A:  It can cut Plate Glass, up to 1/4" thick. Many glass table tops are tempered, and nothing can cut tempered glass. So please ensure what type of glass it is before trying to cut it.

A:  More than likely it can not be used for a glass table. Most glass tables use a really thick tempered glass and this tool is just not going to work for that. Your best bet would be to find out the side glass you need and custom order a piece of glass in the size you need.

A:  I wouldn't advise cutting a window that's in place (installed). The chances of shattering the window are high.

A:  Cutters like this typically cut 1/8" to 1/4" PLATE glass. I highlight the word PLATE as I have seen many, many people try and cut tempered glass with a cutter and they always blame the cutter (tempered glass can NOT be cut, don't bother trying). Cheers!

A:  This can be used on wine bottles. However this is an etching kit and does not cut all the way through the glass.

A:  Yes, it will etch a wine bottle, however to actually separate the two pieces you have to stress the etch to complete the cut. A very common way of doing this is by pouring ice water around the bottle (only at the etch), then follow up with hot water, back to ice water, etc. until the two pieces separate. I would suggest you do not use Boiling Hot water as that extreme temp can cause the glass to break and leave a jagged edge. Also, ONLY go over your cutting line ONCE with the cutter!! If you go over it again, it will destroy the cutting wheel on this device and will result in a poor quality cut line. After the bottle has separated, use some 120 grit sand paper to sand down the sharp glass edge. As with most things, there are many other ways to separate the pieces. This very brief description is only included to hopefully provide a clearer picture on what it takes to actually cut a bottle. Cheers!

A:  You could try it. Im not sure if it would work though. I usually use a piece of string and denatured alcohol to cut bottles. You take the string and soak it in denatured alcohol or acetone. wrap the string around the bottle a few times where you want to cut the glass. Then light the string on fire. while its lit hold the bottle at the mouth and twist it back and forth until you see the string begin to burn. Then plunge the bottle into a bucket of ice cold water. This will shock the class and it will break of at the point where the string was for a clean cut. Sounds crazy but it really does work well.

                              Answer This Question

A:  YES! Make sure and cut the front of the mirror (not the silver side). If trying to cut a very large mirror, it is probably 1/4" thick. Keep in mind that is the max thickness this cutter can handle (for a DIYer). Cutting 1/4" thick material is not as easy as thinner glass or mirror if you are cutting for the first time. If this is the case, make sure and watch some Videos on the internet, AND buy some thinner glass or use some scrap to practice making a couple of cuts. Understanding the sound the cutter makes when you are doing it right is VERY important. Keep constant pressure, don't press down really hard, use the oil, make sure the mirror has been thoroughly cleaned BEFORE applying the oil or starting the cut. If you will be discarding part of the mirror once you cut it, personally I would go ahead and cut off a smaller section to start so you can essentially practice on the same material BEFORE actually cutting it at the final dimension. Just don't try and cut off anything less than a couple of inches as practice, because you will be asking for trouble. The bigger the piece you cut off the easier it is, well kind of. Cheers!

A:  Yes. I just cut 10 panes of mirrors. I purchased the item specifically to do so. Be sure to cut the glass side, not the painted mirror side.
