For larger luxury enclosures, like your new 66 in. x 38 in. x 72 in. model, you have the option of installing the low profile support bar due to the size of the fixed panels. If you choose to leave the support bar out, as shown in the image, please double enforce the fixed panel joints with clear silicone caulk. Either will work. If you are referring to to the product page details, the model fits your finished corner alcove space 35.25 in. to 36.25 in. W x 36.375 in. D x 72 H, and the individual panels are glass door: 22 in., fixed panel: 14 in. (36 in w) & return panel: 36 in. The walk through width of the hinge door is 19 5/8 in. to 20 5/8 in. On this page, you can click the 'Specification' link in the 'Product Details' tab to view the exact measurements of this unit. We can not find anything mentioning 40 in. For this size base, you'd need a 47.25 to 48 in x 34 x 72 model. Please note we can never guarantee a perfect fit or pairing with another third-party brand prefabricated base. We also strongly advise against using existing bases with our new luxury showers. A threshold width of at least 2.5 in. is preferred, and drilling into the base is required. Most customers pair these showers with custom made bases or flooring surfaces.
