Q:Is this wood stain non-toxic? I have a diy litter box enclosure for my rabbit and she would probably chew the wood every now and then. Would this be safe with a wood finish on top?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Tiana, thanks for your question. As it turns out, we do not recommend using our products on kennels or enclosures for animals. Our paints/stains are not designed to be non-toxic to animals, so it's best to find an alternative product. Enjoy the rest of your day! -Christina

Q:Can Danish Oil be applied as a finish over this stain?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi John, thank you for your question. Due to compatibility issues, we wouldn't recommend using an oil-based product over the water-based wood stain. Also, I recommend checking the label of the Danish oil, or the manufacturer as it may need to be applied to bare wood. Have a great day! -Giovanna

Q:I want to make my kitchen cabinets darker. They are really old. What do I need to do before applying this stain?

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi Penny, thank you for your question. The Transparent Fast Drying Wood Stain should be used on bare wood. If your cabinets are painted or stained, this would not be the right product to use. If your cabinets are bare, then you'll want to sand in the direction of the grain using 150-grit sandpaper. Then, use the Water-Based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner to ensure a uniform finish. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us directly so that we can learn more about your project. Have a great day! -Giovanna

Q:I am restoring a white oak “secretary”. It is probably 100 years old. The customer would like the color to be exactly the color of the wood. I did a sample using plain Rubio, wax free shellac and a spray poly. All of them “darkened” the wood. Ideas?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi Richard - Thanks for your question. While its hard to say what paint/stain color will match the wood exactly, I can recommend using our Fast-Drying Water-Based Polyurethane instead. This product has a crystal clear finish that may work best for your project. Have a great day! -Christina

Q:What is the application 'temperature range'? That is, under what temp. can this stain be used? No where in the ad, specifications or documentation does it get mentioned. It's totally missing This should and is part of normal paint/stain specifications.
