Q:Is the white more like a beige? It looks like it in picture.

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Ejj4, thanks for your question. White Wash Pickling is considered a white stain color; however, since this is a transparent coating, the color of the wood will affect the final color of the stain. You can also control the color with the number of coats you apply and by how long you leave on the excess stain before wiping it off. Enjoy the rest of your day! -Christina

Q:Is the pecan water base stain the same color as the pecan water-based stain and poly combination?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi LogDog, thanks for the question. The Pecan Water-Based Stain, and The Pecan Stain & Poly In One, are very similar in color, but they will look slightly different because of the addition of the polyurethane. If you're concerned about how the two will match, I'd recommend testing both colors side by side on a test piece of wood. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:Can a varathane oil based finish be applied (after this product dries of course) as a finishing coat?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi Violet, thanks for the question. I wouldn't recommend using an oil-based varathane over the water-based stain, a better option would be to use a water-based varathane or urethane instead. Have a great day! -Ronald

A:  Hi Jhpl, thank you for your question. The Water-Based Wood Stain has a 3-year shelf-life unopened. Once opened or after the three years, you'll want to do a stir test to see if it can still be used. After stirring for a few minutes, if you do not notice clumps or a foul smell, you can go ahead and use. Have a great day! -Giovanna

Q:After allowing a 3rd coat to dry for 3 hours, I applied a clear, water based topcoat (different brand). The topcoat started washing off the stain! Does the stain need to dry for 48 hours first? Or is the topcoat incompatible?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, thanks for the question. A top coat can be applied after approximately 1 hour. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can add to the dry time. You also want to use a water-based product as your topcoat. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:I stained a mantle and the stain turned out too dark. (I have not applied a sealant coat yet). Would this help lighten up my stain if I applied it over the darker stain? Thanks

                    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Amy, thanks for the question. You can try and use the White Wash Pickling stain to try and lighten your project, as it will add the white color. Keep in mind that the final outcome of the color will be unpredictable. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend reapplying the stain and reapplying with a different color.
