Q:I’d like to use this to paint our front door, which is currently a very dark brown. Do I need to apply primer to the door first? Also, should I use some sort of clear sealant afterwards to protect the paint?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Chris, thank you for your question. Our solid-color wood stain can be used for an exterior front door. It's film-forming and will completely cover the existing color. Priming is unnecessary, but priming with Behr Multi-Surface Primer No. 436 is recommended for woods that bleed. It's also a stand-alone product and does not require a clear sealant to protect the stain. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions you may have. Have a great day! -Alex
