One great benefit our Marquee offers is that it is guaranteed to cover in one coat over a primed or existing coating when you select a color from the one-coat hide color selection as to our Premuim Plus typically will cover in 1-2 coats. A:  Hi Jennifer, thanks for the question. If you want to put a protective coating over the painted shelves, I'd recommend using a water-based product such as a water-based polyurethane.
