yes it sprays out pretty good, full pump pressure.
It's normal. I have several running and they all do that.
#1 do you have the correct size? #2 It's a pipe thread and it won't screw down all the way. It's not suppose to. The threads a tapered to form a water tight seal. If you'll look at it the pipe, the over all shape appears to be a slight cone shape. Widest end at the end of the threads. If you over tighten the unit you either strip the threads or break/crack the unit thereby making it useless.

Piper: I didn't get it to screw all the way down but it seems to be working flawlessly. Thank you for the information on the thread shape. I didn't realize that. I will now stop worrying about it since you taught me about the threads. Thank you!
I don't think it needs to go all the way in, mine only made it maybe 4-5 full turns and seems watertight, but beware that the lower connection on the union (the rubber piece with two metal brackets) may not have been tightened when assembled, and needs to be before you operate or test your system.
Mine fit and screwed in easily. I would suggest the problem may be either it was cross threaded or the threads don't match.
