Q:Is the airflow adjustable on this model? I have this modelt, but didn't install it, and it doesn't seem to pull that much air out. Now I'm concerned that the installer didn't switch it to 110 (if that's an option here), so I need to know whether I need to remove it and check! Thanks.

A:  The AERN110K is 110 CFM, 1.0 sones, 120V, 60 Hz, 0.3 AMPs. This model only offeres one speed. While we do offer a few models with adjustable power levels, this one is justt a single 110 CFM. Q:What does recessed installation mean? It looks similar to install as many others who list surface or flat install.

      Answer This Question

A:  Recessed means that the body of the exhaust fan sits within the ceiling. I don't think I have ever seen a FLAT or SURFACE mounted exhaust.

A:  Recessed installation means the housing of the unit is installed in a hole in the ceiling. The only piece you will see once installed is the grille cover. Surface or flat would mean the whole unit is installed on top of a surface. All our exhaust fans are made for recessed installation.

Q:I'm replacing an existing fan and need to mount the housing using the side opposite of where the existing flanges are to point the exhaust duct in the right direction. Is that possible?

        Answer This Question

A:  Having recently installed it, I think you could install it in any orientation to the ceiling, but you cannot change the exhaust port location, you would have to be able to move the exhaust hose to accommodate.

A:  For the best installation of model AERN110K we recommend rigid metal 4" duct; keeping the duct run as short and straight as possible. A:  It’s just a exhaust. You want to minimize the pace the exhaust sucks air out? Seems pointless. But I don’t think you can. You need the regular switch.

Q:What Broan/Nutone bath exhaust fan do you recommend to replace my old Nutone model QT-110? The old fan was probably installed when the house was built in the 1970s. Will I need any additional parts to replace the old fan? Can you recommend a dealer in the Minneapolis area where I can purchase the new fan?

                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your continued interest in our products. If you purchase a new model then your old unit would have to be removed, including the old housing. You certainly have the option of getting replacement parts for the QT-110. Please contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151 for assistance with identifying the best product or parts to meet your needs.

Q:I am not able to reach my current fan to remove the cover and clean inside. Does this cover keep more dirt from getting inside so I don’t have to hire someone for fan cleaning every 6 months?

                    Answer This Question

A:  If dirt is in the air, it is going to get into the fan if the fan is doing its job. While I suppose fans could include some kind of filter that could be changed or cleaned, it still would involve getting out a step ladder and taking off the fan cover. Once you done that, however, it only takes a minute to clean the fan compartment.

A:  Yes, the gaps on this unit are only around the edges. This creates less area for the fan to build up dust that over time becomes caked on due to moisture. It moves air efficiently so it will build up if you have an open panel or not. I personally find that if you slide the panel to the open position and take compressed air and blow it out every few months, you will really not have to clean it out every few years.

A:  I don’t think so. It all depends on the location (meaning your space)

                        Answer This Question

A:  The AERN80K uses a 4" duct. An 80 CFM unit with a 4" duct can have a duct run of up to 20 feet. Keep in mind that for each 90 Degree elbow in the duct run, you will have to reduce the duct run by 4 feet.
