      A:  This product is basswood

A:  The Colombia Forest Products literature labels the wood as “tropical” without a specific species. My sheet of bending ply had a a white, finer grained side and a redder more open grain side. The literature does mention that the species can vary.

A:  It will come in 8 foot panels but you may want to work 4 at a time

          by|Nov 6, 2019

A:  I have tried several times to order the 4 x 8 size through special order and have not been successful. Home Depot does not seem to know how to special order this.

A:  This veneer on this panel is not finished, it is generally used to achieve a curved surface and then covered with another material such as a paper veneer.

A:  you can stian this wood - it seems to be just line luann

              by|Nov 6, 2019

A:  I haven't tried to stain it but I don't see why not. Some woods take stain better than others, so you need to try some test spots. You may need a sealer like shellac to minimize blotching. The surface of the good side is not really furniture grade so it might not turn out the way you want. Plus the veneer is so thin, you can't really do much sanding on it.

              A:  Yes.

Q:Im looking for something for the surface of a skateboard ramp. Would this be durable?

              Answer This Question

A:  It would bend to form a ramp, be sure to provide a support under the bending plywood. The plywood is quite flexible and will not support much weight, but bends quite well to many shapes. Like for making the hood of a child's pedal car or truck and the roof of a child's gypsy wagon.

A:  Not at all, you should go with something thicker.

A:  This product is typically meant for decorative type applications (e.g, a curved island cabinet etc.) I don't know that I would recommend it for this type of use. Give me a call if you would like to discuss in more detail. I can be reached at 336-291-5869. Thank you -- Michael

A:  This is very soft and flexible wood I would suggest something a lot stronger than this Bender board

                by|Oct 31, 2019

A:  The wood should hold up to skateboarding BUT I don't think it will hold up to the weather/elements.

Q:Do you know if this would hold up a skate ramp/

                Answer This Question

A:  With sufficient cross bracing of 2x4s, this would work as the surface ply for a skate ramp, but there are better choices for that purpose. If your transition is for a large ramp, 3/8" or even thicker plywood can work. Get some that is exterior rated and fairly smooth on one side.

                by|Oct 28, 2019

A:  at 1/4 inch, I doubt it will hold up to use for more than a season ...AND at 1/4 inch this will most certainly suffer from weather/elements.

                by|Oct 22, 2019

A:  This panel is 1/4 inch thick, and should NOT be used for anything requiring weight-bearing. It should only be decorative.

A:  I was able to get nearly 90 degrees over a 4 foot length. I did this while dry. This was great because it didn't cause any color variations resulting from water

A:  This wood bends naturally without being wet. This product does not use a waterproof glue and should not be wet. If you have more questions, call Michael at 336-291-5869, I'd be glad to discuss this in more detail. Thanks! - Michael

A:  Absolutely not! This product bends while completely dry, and does not seem to spring back like steamed wood does.
