    A:  I put our 8" lights up in our double layer 5/8" (1-1/4") ceiling. The double 5/8" is code for 1st floor ceilings in our area. A fixture not being able to fit a 1-1/4" thickness ceiling is a major design flaw that eliminates a large swath of consumers.

                A:  This depends on the power limit on your dimmer, but it is generally ok. The average dimmer can carry a minimum total power of 150W. The power of this lamp is only 10W.
