As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature, proper patch sizing/ repair project guidance is communicated as: "DAP Eclipse 2-Inch Rapid Wall Repair Patch: repairs damage up to 1 inch in diameter and is ideal for small repairs such as nail holes, nail pops, screw holes, anchor damage and cable cord removal damage. •DAP Eclipse 4-Inch Rapid Wall Repair Patch: repairs damage up to 2 inches in diameter and is ideal for medium repairs and everyday wall damaged caused by moving furniture, roughhousing, or relocating towel racks or toilet paper holders. •DAP Eclipse 6-Inch Repair Patch: repairs damage up to 3 inches in diameter and is ideal for larger repairs and specifically designed to withstand doorknob impact. While the patch could be used to cosmetically repair the hole created by the doorknob, the repair would not be considered structural (a repeat of the impact that damaged the plaster, could damage the wall patch as well). A:  Make sure the nail isn’t protruding past the drywall, and this should work well. The plastic isn’t very thick.

The patch is not capable of preventing a fastener from moving ("popping"). In order to use the Eclipse Wall Repair Patch, we would generally recommend that the "popping" fastener (nail or screw) be removed prior to installing the Eclipse Wall Repair Patch. The DAP Eclipse Wall Repair Patch is primarily designed for designed for cosmetic repairs where there is no underlying support (as opposed to leveling/covering a dented area). While this repair would be appropriate for Eclipse Patch, the use of a traditional spackling compound may be equally/more suitable. The instructions found on the Eclipse Patch product package label and supporting literature indicating: "Paint: Paint immediately with a high-quality paint roller and interior latex paint.", refers to the "no dry time" required between the application of the patch to the wall surface and final finishing (painting) step feature (as is required with most other wall repair solutions). Then apply texture using aerosol spray textures of textured paint rollers to match existing wall surface."
