A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. As indicated on the product package label and supporting product literature: "May be painted within minutes with a latex paint. Please follow paint manufacturer’s instructions for application. If sanding is desired, or if an oil-based paint is to be used, allow to dry thoroughly (approximately 24 hours)." We do not recommend the use of stains with DAP Patch-N-Paint Lightweight Spackling (or any other DAP spackling compound). Should you have any additional questions or require further assistance, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477.

A: I bought some of this for a project a year ago and then just used it again last month. It will keep at least a year assuming it is sealed up.
A: None, water would unbind it.
A: None needed.
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP PATCH-N-PAINT Lightweight Spackling is ready to use and does not require the addition of water.
A: No water is needed. It’s ready to apply straight from the container.
A: It is premixed. No water.
A: I don't know, but I just used it on paneling and it didn't seem to be a problem.
A: Yes but one made for wood will allow you to stain it with best lasting effects
A: Thank you for your inquiry and for your interest in the DAP products. The inquiry that you have posted does not contain enough detail or background to allow us to provide a proper reply in this format. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain this additional information from you and provide you with the guidance you need to move forward with your project.
A: It will cover corners and small amounts of tape
A: I used it for small patch work. I still have plenty.
A: This is not a paint coating. It is a crack and divet filler. So none as what I think you want to do with it is inappropriate.
A: Used a cupcake icing in fake food crafting. Absolutely perfect used in piping bags with tips.
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP PATCH-N-PAINT Lightweight Spackling is specifically designed and recommended for repairing cracks, dents, dings, holes and similar minor cosmetic defects. The texture/consistency of this product does not lend itself to large format spreading. As indicating on the product package label and supporting product literature: "DO NOT USE AS A SKIM COAT." For thin/large surface area format repairs we would recommend the use of product such as DAP Premium Lightweight Joint Compound. At your convenience, please contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your project and to discuss other product options more in line with your requirements.
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. Based on the information that you have provided; it would appear that the assembly that you are attempting to repair is experiencing more joint movement that a traditional "hard setting" spackling product can withstand. For application where minor movement may occur, we would recommend the use of DAP ALEX FLEX Spackling. ALEX FLEX Spackling is designed to be applied in areas where minor joint movement may occur and/or where other traditional hard setting joint compounds/spackling compounds have cracked. DAP ALEX Flex Spackling is not an elastomeric compound; accordingly, its joint movement capabilities may not always afford sufficient flexibility for all situations. Unfortunately, there is no way to provide a more detained reply to this type of inquiry, as there are too many potential variables present. Should you have any additional questions, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your specific project requirements and so that we can recommend the most appropriate product for your needs.
A: The fact that it keeps cracking in the same place makes me think that your wall might be getting stressed by the movement of the door. Perhaps there are two sections of drywall butting up to each other without proper internal backing (like a wall stud) to keep them from moving slightly and causing the crack. I would try 3M Wall Repair Fiber Reinforced Compound, also sold at Home Depot. Or you could use plastering tape to hold the area together.
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP Patch-N-Paint is DAP's lowest moisture content spackling compound. This formula is specifically designed for use in cosmetic repair applications where fast dry/paint times are required.
A: This is in-between what you are describing. It is a thick, pasty material. Made especially for nail holes. Dries fast and paints over well.
A: This is not the goopy wet spackle. I like this stuff better and I also used it to fill small nail holes. works great!
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. As a general rule, the maximum recommended diameter should be less than 2", while larger diameter applications are possible, larger applications are more prone to cracking and/or loss of edge adhesion (due to the surface tension that occurs drying).
A: In the past I have used screws, chopsticks ends, and dowel pieces to partially fill the hole and then preceded to fill and cover with the DAP.
A: For holes a 1/4 inch is about it.
A: if you have a huge hole try applying this on a hole patch and it should work great. I haven't tried covering any holes larger than an inch
A: I imagine you could, but I should preface by saying I personally did not like this product. I would either go on-line and search for specific solutions or ask someone in the paint department at your local Home Depot for an alternative product.
A: Light weight, easy to apply, sands with little effort, receives paint quite well.
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. DAP does not recommended the use of any of its spackling products for use on polystyrene insulation.
A: I have to say yes. I did and it worked fine
A: I think you can. Maybe you need to use a primer first, but I doubt it. Polystyrene paints well too. It does not meet fire codes as it gives off dangerous gases when it burns, but I will take the chance. They do not say to throw out your styrofoam coolers out of the house. Furthermore, dying in a house fire is not likely anyway as there are not that many house fires (well, maybe in California)
A: Yes
A: Thank you for posting your inquiry. Patch-N-Paint is not as "hard setting" as traditional heavy weight spackling products, likewise, sanding is not generally recommended. As indicated on the product package: “If sanding is desired, or if an oil-based paint is to be used, allow to dry thoroughly, approximately 24 hours, longer dry time may be required in cooler and/or more humid condition or where deep repairs have been made.” DAP has several other more traditional spackling products (hard setting, but slower drying) that are more suited for sanding/fine finishing. At your convenience, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your project requirements, so that we can recommend an alternative product more in line with your needs.
A: Yes. Dries fast, works great.
A: Yes with in an hour I was able to s and and paint
