Questions and Answers for DEWALT 12 Amp Corded 2-1/4 Horsepower Electronic Variable Speed Fixed Base Router with Soft Start

A:  We apologize for any inconvenience. This model is not designed for being attached to a table. For that reason we're unable to provide the dimensions requested.

A:  SUGGEST GO TO A HOME DEPOT STORE AND ASK A TOOL DEPT PERSON OR CALL RYOBI AND ASK.

A:  It is difficult to use because of the depth adjustment and also because os the difficulty of trying to secure the router bit.  I ended up purchasing a compatible router—the Rigid brand because it comes with a tool which is used to turn up or down for depth and also the Rigid router has a securing nut for the router bit which can be accessed while the router is mounted.  The DeWalt is an excellent router but not with this table—Home Depot should make it clear that this table is compatible with Ryobi or Rigid…not DeWalt or Milwaukee.

A:  Yes, but it depends on the type of router table you choose.  The problem is changing the router bits and adjusting the height.  The ability to apply the wrench necessary to tighten the bit and depress the button to allow changing the bit is the decision maker.  Also, the ability to change depth is at odds with certain tables.  Also, the mounting of the router under the table requires that there be a compatibility of screw attach points to accomplish the mounting.  DeWalt is not the brand to purchase when buying a Ryobi router table...it is compatible with Rigid and Ryobi--not DeWalt because the opening for the bit does not allow use of the wrench necessary to attach the bit.  I ended up (after purchasing the DeWalt) buying the Rigid to use that particular table.  I use the DeWalt freehand.  Had I known...I would have purchased a different router table.

A:  I installed my DW 618 into a Jessem lift. The 618 was listed by Jessem as fitting & it went right in. (The complete router with base is cheaper than the motor by by itself.) The lift is in my table saw table extension allowing the rip fence to work for cutting and routing. The speed control, switch and shaft lock are awkward to use in the lift. Installed a remote switch on the table. The speed I leave high and the shaft lock can be pushed when the router is lifted full up. This makes a solid & compact set up. Jerry
