A:  Hello CuriousConsumber, Thank you for your contact. We apologize for any trouble or inconvenience in finding information. All DW735 currently being shipped are type 12. Once a type is updated, production on the previous type is terminated. The planers are manufactured in Taiwan. Best Regards Sherri C DEWALT

Q:How large a board can the DW735 handle? The DW734 can go up to 6 in x 12.5 in. Can the 735 go bigger than that?

      Answer This Question

A:  The absolute maximum height of a board is 6" for the DW735....!!! A thicker board will not advance through the Planar and a 6" board will get planed as it feeds through. The DW735 Planar is a 13" wide Planar but the material must be a little less than 13" or it will be extremely difficult to feed it through unless it is exactly parallel with the unit or it will bind as it goes through the planar.

A:  It can plane a 13" wide board but the maximum depth is the same as the 734 at 6".

A:  The main plus that the 735 is the 2 roller speeds that can give a 220 finish straight out of the machine. It also has wider posts for more stability of the cutter head itself.

Q:What are the dimensions(inches) of the overall planer. I've looked all over for them, IT's quite important to finding / developing a proper cart/work surface.

      Answer This Question

A:  Overall width about 27" including the handle, 21" width of just the base. Overall length without in/outfeed tables is about 19-5/8". From the bottom of the base to the table is about 2-5/8" so consider this if you are building it into a bench. That kind of setup would probably have to be fine tuned with shims to get everything leveled and supported properly for using the bench as in/out feed. I built a cart 39" tall + 2-5/8" base which puts my in/out feed tables at 41-5/8"...decent working height. Hope this helps,,, GOBBLESS. -Sent from Nokia 3310 Brick Phone

A:  If you plan on making a stand for the Dewalt DW735 Planar here are the measurements: Depth of planar base for mounting: 15" edge to edge - distance between mounting holes 13 3/4" OC Width of planar base for mounting: 20 1/2" edge to edge - distance between mounting holes 18" OC If making a stand for this planar I would suggest making your stand/cart base 1" larger than the width and depth of the base noted above, i.e., Depth 16" and width 21 1/2". Your easiest solution would be to purchase the stand made for the Dewalt DW735 Planar through Home Depot. The stand is mobile and you can lock down the stand with the wheel brakes. Its cost is about $155 + tax.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Clay, Thank you for your question. We're sorry to advise the model DW735 is not rated in Horse Power. We can advise the features: 15 amp, 20,000 rpm motor Two-speed gear box allows users to change feed speed to optimizing cuts per inch at 96 or 179 CPI Three-knife cutter head with 10,000 rpm cutter-head speed delivers 30% longer knife life and makes knife change faster and easier. Please contact DEWALT at wecare@sbdinc.com directly for further questions or concerns.

A:  Recommend taking only 1/32 off at a time for hardwood while planing 12” wide boards. HP remained ample and did not kick off electric breaker once. Very satisfied.

                Answer This Question

A:  Yes. The catch is that it equals about the same as the 735X

                by|Feb 2, 2021

A:  Yes, the DW735 Planar does not come with the In/Out Feeder Trays whereas the DW735X does. The In/Out Feeder Trays can be bought separately on-line as they usually do not carry them in Stores.

A:  It's actually for 120 volts (USA standard).

A:  Is is powered with 110v.

                    by|Jan 22, 2021

A:  110. You will need a 20 amp breaker as this can pull a total of 15 amps. Also, I personally put a Shelix cutter head in mine because the stock blades suck.
