Questions and Answers for ProWood Pressure-Treated 6 ft. Aluminum Southern Yellow Pine Rail Kit

A:  Yes comes as a kit so there is both 6' and 8 ' lengths available by part number. 6ft. Deck rail model # 177039/ 8 ft. deck rail model # 298645. I am not aware of any square balusters for these kits. They come pre drilled with circular holes for the black round rods.

A:  We do not sell this rail kit with square balusters at this time. Please contact your local PRO associate to see if this item is available for special order in your area.

A:  This rail kit is not made to be installed on steps. Please search internet number 204430479 to find our stair rail kit. You should install the posts 72 in. apart. Be sure to measure all items before setting your posts.

A:  Received my rails for pool deck including rails for the steps. Really gave it a nice appeal look and serves a purpose as well. Added the solar lights to enhance the functionality of the rails as well. Thanks- Rick

A:  This rail kit comes with top and bottom routed rails, a cap rail, a crush block, hardware, brackets, and balusters.

A:  Yes. It has a design routered into it.

A:  I love these kits and they look beautiful. But I needed extra parts and I could not figure out how to buy individual pieces either online or in store. I had to improvise.

A:  This railing is intended for exterior use. Since the wooden components of the rail kit are pressure treated, they do not need to be sealed.

A:  Yes, In or out. Is doesn’t have to be sealed, painted or varnished. But if you’d like to keep it looking new, I would suggest doing so, especially if your installing it outside. And the best thing about that is, unlike fresh treated lumber, you don’t have to wait to do so. This product is kiln dried. It’s Ready for painting sealing or stain.

A:  No it is pressure treated but a stain or varnish applied will enhance its appearance and prolong its longevity.

A:  Yes, there are square balusters in a 6’ rail kit.

A:  No, this stair rail kit includes round balusters only at this time.

A:  Home Depot sell large steel post support-base that would be drilled into the concrete. I used them om my deck as well for better stability.

A:  We recommend that you used approved fasteners designed for concrete.

A:  yes, just remove the 4 screws securing the top rail, lift the top rail off, and at that point you should be able to remove the balusters.

A:  This rail kit arrives unassembled. If you would like to stain the wooden components of this rail, we recommend doing so before you assemble/install the kit.

A:  Yes, the balusters can be cut. Please check your local building codes to make sure the shortened balusters are complaint in your area.

A:  Yes. They are aluminum.

A:  Yes, you can paint the balusters that come with this kit. You will need to purchase a paint that will adhere to aluminum.

A:  To answer your question: Yes, but understand the aluminum balusters are black anodized to a high gloss. A good surface treatment should allow you to paint over the Anodized aluminum. Check with the paint store to specify what you need.

A:  Yes they can. You can get a high quality exterior spray enamel and paint them before installation or get a high quality exterior latex house paint and brush them before or after installation. Will take several coats for proper coverage.

A:  Yes, the balusters can be painted in white
