Questions and Answers for DecoArt Americana Decor 8 oz. Primitive Chalky Finish

A:  I would. I bought the Americana Decor wax and covered my chairs. I just rubbed it on with a cloth.

A:  Yes. It will protect it from chipping the paint off and eliminate scratches. Cupboards get used every day and a top coat will protect the finish. I would use in a small hidden area first to verify it does not change the color and the base color can sometimes bleed through. Once you know it works do the rest of the cabinets

A:  You should use the creme waxes for a more durable finish. Depending on the use of the cabinet, you might want to put more than one coat on for durability.

A:  I do not plan to, I will use an enamel since it is cabinets so feel I probably do not need to but for anything else I would probably have put a glaze over it.

A:  The jar says 60 sq. ft.

A:  Hi, I have done quite a few pieces with chalk paint. You should always apply wax over the paint. It is rather fragile to wear on its own, so it needs the protection of wax. The wax, however, makes painting the piece a little more difficult. I would at a minimum, use a deglosser on the wax surface or even considering some light sanding before repainting. A:  Home Depot does sell the 16 oz sizes online, which is the largest size that DecoArt makes for this chalk paint.

A:  Yes, this paint can be used on a tile floor.

A:  No, this product will not work on fabric.

A:  Folkart makes a Parisian Grey color that doesn't have as much blue in it. I'd just paint over what you've done with that.

A:  I used Home Decor Chalk paint, it covered our bedroom furniture really nice, but I did two coats, I wanted to protect the paint so I coated it with polycrylic by min wax......make sure chalk dries good for at least a couple days. You still have to be careful not to scratch hard as it can ruin the paint. It was a lot of work and time, but I love the gray tone now on my furniture and so glad I did it. If you like the chalky look you can skip the polycrylic, I wanted a little bit of sheen and to protect the paint.
