A:  The shower base is direct-to-stud, but the acrylic wall kit is not. Once the shower base is installed to the studs, you will then need to install 1/2" backer board. The acrylic walls are thin and lightweight by design because they are designed to be trimmed, then glued up to your backer board. DreamLine does not make any direct-to-stud wall systems. A:  Unfortunately, we do not offer a 3-piece kit with a left drain. The 48" single threshold shower bases by DreamLine are only available with a center drain. A:  DreamLine does not provide any instructions for trimming the height and we typically do not recommend this because the raised tile pattern is already centered (top-to-bottom) on the panels. Trimming the height would mean that you would probably want to trim both both top and bottom to keep the tile pattern centered and we do not offer any sort of trim kit to conceal any rough edges that have been trimmed. A:  To clean the base, you should only ever use mild detergent, non-abrasive sprays, or cream-based cleaners. Avoid the use of aerosol spray cleaners and cleaners containing harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia. Never use abrasive cleaners, metal brushes, or scrapers that could permanently scratch, damage, or dull the surface. A:  Measuring from your studs and starting from the back corner of your framed shower area, the drain location for the 32x32 SlimLine single threshold shower base is set at 15" x 16". If you click on the additional pictures in the photo slideshow to the left of the main product picture in the Home Depot listing, you will see that one of the pictures is the technical drawings for the shower base that will show these dimensions in a detailed drawing. A:  DreamLine SlimLine shower bases have a very low-profile design and are designed for shower door installation. The basin where you stand is very shallow and we typically do not recommend using a shower curtain because it will most likely leak down at the bottom because the curtain will not drape inside the lip of the shower curb enough to keep the water contained. A:  You could. They are just thin from panels for walls so it could be installed over just about any rigid surface

A:  Unfortunately, no - you cannot install this over an existing shower. The shower base must be installed directly to studs, then backer board will need to be put up around 3 sides of the base, then the acrylic walls will be trimmed and installed over the backer board.
