Q:How far off the wall does this trellis extend?
by|Apr 9, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  The trellis supports are about 2" square PVC. You can mount on posts or attach to a wall. Either way, you have great flexibility in how tight to the wall or what kind of alternative support you would like to use. We supported it on redwood posts and also attached to our fence with spacers so as to provide a one inch gap between trellis and wall.

A:  The trellis extends only 3 inches from the wall.

Q:I want to create a moving trellis, was planning to construct a wooden caddy and attach the legs of this trellis to it.

A:  Easy to assemble (1 person) and it looks fantastic. Bought it for a climbing rose. It’s perfect.

A:  I have no idea how to do that and make it stable. It would seem too top heavy. However, the two supports are hollow PVC, so I would bolt a plumbing floor flange to each caddy and with pipe inserted up into each trellis base.

A:  Nice trellis. Don't overtighten the assembly screws. Put caulk on the threads of the mounting screws to prevent rot or leaks. Put side with screws toward house. Easy assembly. You'll need some vinyl glue from the hardware store for the caps.

    A:  broken

    by|Jun 5, 2022

A:  I’m not sure that would work. You have to drill it into place, and I could see that causing some issues over a vinyl fence. We attached ours to stucco.

      by|Jul 1, 2020

        A:  Yes, using screws.

Q:Does anyone know for sure if this can be secured into the ground ? And if so how and do they come with the trellis? I don't see where it comes with anything and I don't see this listed and know at times items come with partial information. Thank you

A:  I put a 4x4 in the ground on either side of the trellis and secured the trellis to them. My passion vine is happily growing on the trellis.

A:  We bought this a couple of years ago. You can sink it a couple of inches into the ground but that doesn't really secured it. You have to secure it to the wall at four points. We had to anchor into brick and used Tap-con bolts, It worked out great.

A:  I own two trellises. I believe that if you use long steel poles, and if you could drive them into the ground deep enough, you could put the uprights over the poles, but I don't believe they would stand up to wind well. If you angled two of them together like an A-line tent with the rebar-type rods driven into the ground at an angle, tying the trellises together at the top, overlapped, may work, but again, I doubt it. If you can't drop the long trellis over the stakes (problematic because if you don't screw the pieces together properly, it's going to fall apart), could always tie the trellis to stakes driven into the ground, but it will detract from the looks. Also, if the posts you tie it to are not long enough, the trellis will tend to fall over. Hope this helps. :-/

A:  I would not use as a stand alone unless you attached some kind of extension on the legs.

A:  I am not sure. However, it appears to be made of a very nice material. I would suggest calling the company, to get correct information. They would also be able to tell you the type of paint to use (If it is possible.) Good luck.

A:  Yes if you have the right tools. We mounted our to a wooden fence. The trellis comes with plastic "sleeves" that create a space between the trellis and the structure you are mounting to, so you would just need to predrill a screw hole in the block to receive the screw.

A:  If you can drill holes into the block wall to attach the mounting brackets. Or sink large 4x4 posts behind the 2 sides then attach the trellis to them.

A:  Mine is secured to the wall by using spacers and very long screws that went into my stucco wall. It came with really long spikes for in-ground installation but I did not use them.

A:  Long screws go through frame and into spacers that keep it off of bricks. Screws are made to use on wood. I used masonry screws and attached directly to bricks without spacers.
