A: The description says that it is: "Clear PVC Tubing manufactured with Non-Toxic FDA compounds" and "Non-toxic FDA grade compound." To be honest though, I would check to see how it smells, I bought some clear vinyl tubing that smelled really really bad. I ended up using a silicone food grade tubing instead for my ice maker drain tubes.

A: I am not sure what you mean by "work"? If you mean for a drain tube, if it fits, it could work. You may have to clamp it in place or do other work-arounds, but, the vinyl tubing holds up pretty well in weather. You may have to replace it in a few years, though, and it can be crushed or pinched cutting off the flow, however, just clamping it on and routing it so it is not pinched or squished down, it may work just fine. I'm using it to pump water from a water container to a trailer fresh water tank.

A: Depends on how far you want it to go they also sell larger ID diameter to not need to heat it up. But yes it could be heated to allow for a slightly larger diameter and then don’t forget to clamp it to keep it secure and from leaking. I would not recommend heating it up for any type of pressure line.

A: The tubing does soften with heat from a heat gun. I have used it to get the tubing onto a hose barb, but, caution, it can get so soft that it doesn't have enough internal strength to be pushed onto the barb. I also can't tell how much strength is left in the tubing that has been heated when it is cooled back down. But, when heated it does get stretchy. Be careful not to overheat so it melts completely and watch out that when heated, touching the tubing can burn your fingers. I would recommend you experiment a bit with some extra tubing just to make sure it works for you.
