A:  It would work very well for use as a backing for targets but it would be a little expensive for that. Bullets would go right through it. A better item would be a sheet of 1/4" OSB or plywood cut into 2 x 2 pieces.

A:  By " Plinking" are you talking BB guns and others which use compressed air? I would think this would suffice for an acceptable backstop. But if you are talking .22 caliber bullets I wouldn't count on this to stop them.

A:  The previous answer has a decimal point error. Typical melting point of common steel grades is about 1,200 F., not 12,000 F.

Keep in mind these sheets have to be handled by hand in crowded stores. I recommend you buy galvanized sheet, so you don't have to deal with rust flash over all the time.
