Q:Can it be used for plinking
by|Mar 22, 2019

Answer This Question

A:  It would work very well for use as a backing for targets but it would be a little expensive for that. Bullets would go right through it. A better item would be a sheet of 1/4" OSB or plywood cut into 2 x 2 pieces.

by|Jun 17, 2022

A:  By " Plinking" are you talking BB guns and others which use compressed air? I would think this would suffice for an acceptable backstop. But if you are talking .22 caliber bullets I wouldn't count on this to stop them.

Q:Will I be able to use this product for insulation for an outdoor grill to prevent a fire?

Answer This Question

A:  The previous answer has a decimal point error. Typical melting point of common steel grades is about 1,200 F., not 12,000 F.

A:  The melting point on low carbon steel is usually 12,000 degrees. In order to properly respond to the question more data is required.

by|Oct 27, 2023

A:  Steel is a good conductor of heat so it makes for very poor insulation.

Q:How is this product at retaining heat, like for example if I were to make a fry pan out of it?

          Answer This Question

A:  It is not very suitable for frying pan material but in a pinch it would do. It will rust pretty quickly after being exposed to moisture. you would be much better off if you went to stainless steel.

          by|Feb 12, 2019

A:  We do not advise using this type of product if it’s going to be touching food. You would be better suited to find a good grade stainless steel product…which is a custom type special order item.

A:  Currently the largest 16-Gauge Plain Steel Sheet Metal we carry is part# 800657, 24 in. x 24 in. 16-Gauge Plain Sheet Metal. If you need something larger, check with the Pro Desk about placing a special order.

                      by|Dec 28, 2018

A:  Look at Homedepot.com online, and search for sheet metal. 24" or 30" square might be the largest, but online will show you want is available. Keep in mind these sheets have to be handled by hand in crowded stores. I recommend you buy galvanized sheet, so you don't have to deal with rust flash over all the time.
