Q:Does it matter if the longer edge of the bracket gets attached to the wall or the shelf?

Answer This Question

A:  You can mount the brackets either way but know before hand that the longer side is technically supposed to be the shelf side and the short side goes to the wall. You can swap them but know that the bracket will not extend all the way to the edge of the shelf when doing it that way.

A:  No, it doesn't matter. You can flip the bracket either way to better fit different shelf sizes or just to have a different aesthetic.

A:  I don't think it matters. I wondered the same thing, but there's no instruction on that and I've done it both ways in the past.

A:  You can but keep in mind it won’t hold the same weight

A:  No, I attached longer side to wall. It worked for what I needed it for.

A:  This white elegant shelf bracket has a max weight of 100 pounds.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  These brackets are weight rated for holding up to 100lbs each, when securely fastened to wall studs.

            by|Mar 25, 2023

              A:  50 lbs

              by|May 5, 2023

A:  It says that max weight is 200lbs. per shelf. I could only mount one of the brackets into a stud, so I'm not going to put that much weight on them just in case.

Q:I'd like to reinforce one of those cheap closetmade cube storage units that has become a little wobbly. Will this bracket completely destroy the shelving? I'd predrill holes of course but wondering if it's worth the risk....

A:  Yes, there are two holes on top. One front and one back. The screws included with the brackets work nicely for this.

A:  I used 2" drywall screws for the wall (into studs) and 6/32 x 1/2 to hold the shelf to the brackets.

A:  It depends on what you're installing them on. Drywall, plaster, studs, etc. I installed them on plaster walls but I made sure I hit studs. I then used a 2 1/2" screw to mount them to the wall.

A:  We recommend that you use two #6 X 5/8” pan head screws for mounting the brackets to a wood shelf and two #6 X 1-1/2” pan head screws for attaching the bracket into wall studs.

                        by|May 4, 2023

A:  When mounting on drywall, install on a stud using 2" wood screws. drywall is 1/2" thick and the bracket is about 1/8th" so you will have 1" and 3/8" bite to anchor the brackets.

A:  Using a cheap wooden 6" ruler I get 10 and 1/4" height and 7 and 1/2" depth. I have used them withe the 7 and 1/2 against the wall and with the 10 and 1/4" against the wall.

Q:I am interested in buying two of these brackets to support a 36" x 11" pine shelf. The problem is that I have a narrow space to put the shelf and my 2 studs are way off center of where the shelf will be. I won't be able to attach the brackets to studs. Should I avoid buying these brackets in that case, or just avoid putting too much weight on the shelf? Thanks!

A:  If you are going into wallboard and use good wallboard anchors, by using 3 brackets, the shelf should be able to hold plenty of weight. It wold be great if at least one of the brackets could screw into a stud. If so, no worries about weight on the shelf.

A:  Use a good anchor ( the type that has a part that spreads out on the other side of the drywall) and avoid putting too much weight on the shelf e.g. a row of books. My opinion.
