Q:I can’t get the pruner open. There appears to be a locking mechanism on one side but I can’t get it to move.

    Answer This Question

A:  try pushing locking mechanism Both ways, Up and down

    by|May 15, 2019

A:  There is a locking mechanism. It is designed to need moderate pressure to open and close as a safety device. If you have serious problems with it, take it back to the place of purchase. The locking device gets easier to use over a short period of time. Make sure you lock it closed when not in use for safety.

A:  Squeeze the pruners while sliding the locking catch. That should allow you to open them.

A:  You may have to force it a bit but if you squeeze the handles together as much as you can, the locking lever should move a bit easier.

A:  Yes I prune my raspberry with it

              by|Oct 31, 2018

A:  Hi Maggie, I used it to trim hydrangea stems and a plumeria cutting, both with little difficulty so I'm sure they will work for raspberry bushes. They are extremely sharp. Hope this helps!

              by|Nov 1, 2018

A:  3/8" diameter is fine,if you have 14" diameter raspberry bushes, you'll need a chainsaw. 14" in length would be very easy for this pruner. Stay safe, and lock it closed when not in use; particularly if children are around.

A:  Thank you for contacting Fiskars. This model pruners contains materials that require the State of California Proposition 65 label. In 1986, California approved an initiative to address concerns about certain regulated materials that may be found in consumer products and is referred to by its original name of Proposition 65. Under Proposition 65, all manufacturers selling products in California are required to notify California residents when any of the regulated materials can be found in products available for purchase.

A:  The pruner is basically steel with a comfortable plastic like covering over the handles. It could easily be recycled as steel. There are no chemicals used while using the pruner. Safety is a big thing with me, and if used properly, the pruner is perfectly safe. Make sure you lock it closed when not in use, particularly if you have children around.
