Q:what i really want is a very quit fill. Is this unit quit compared to stock valves?

Answer This Question

A:  I kept my original fill valve and float. Nothing is quiet. Some are quieter than others, but all are pushing water through a small orafice at high pressure, that makes noise. Fully remove and clean out your basin - then Spray the inside of it with a waterproof foam (masking for connections). That should provide sound dampening.

      Answer This Question

A:  I do not have this problem. Is the actuation handle free to move and not 'blocked' by the tank lid? Perhaps the manufactures web page has information / trouble shooting guides... http://www.fluidmaster.com/duo-flush-system.html Hope this helps - Mike

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  To flush you just push down for full and pull up for half flush, and then release. You don't have to hold the handle.

A:  I do not have an answer. I plan on going back to the box hoping for more data but will look to the manufacturer if nothing available. With the Holiday season have not taken the time yet.

A:  I'm not qualified to answer your question. Perhaps the manufacture (Kohler) can chime in. Their web page is at: http://www.us.kohler.com/us/?brand=kpast&source=google&mat=exact&cat=branded&kwd=kohler&iq=49593009-VQ16-c-VQ6-87529441749-VQ15-1t2 Cut/trim/paste as needed..... They have a 'contact us' question area. The Kohler toilets I've worked on have a larger diameter flush valve ~ 3", and this is defiantly smaller in diameter.

A:  I would think so. Seems to be fairly generic as far as the fittings.

          by|May 4, 2023

A:  Yes, it will as long as yours has flapper. The flapper is the rubber that sits at the bottom of the tank and acts like a door. When the chain is pulled it lifts the flapper and allows the water to flow into the tank. Just make sure the tank seat is one that is illustrated on the instructions.

A:  Dear Valued Customer: Thank you for your question concerning the Duo Flush System Toilet Converter. This system will work with most "standard" two piece toilets. There are some exceptions, this system needs work with a single flapper flush valve system and will not work with a tower type flush system, this system will not work in one piece toilets. Q:does this kit has a back flow

                Answer This Question

A:  This is a question for the manufacturer. Their web page is: http://www.fluidmaster.com I'm not an expert in the field; and assume you mean if you loose water pressure and the plumbing supply line starts to drain it should not allow water in the tank back into the plumbing system. I assume that this would be petty much standard for any relative new tank valve. See below. From the web: http://www.toiletology.com/anti-sph.shtml -Cut-Paste- Today plumbing codes throughout the U.S. and Canada mandate the installation of anti-siphon toilet fill valves in all gravity flow toilets (new installations, retrofits, and replacements). However, it is not easy to determine if an existing refill valve (ballcock) in a toilet tank meets local plumbing codes; many of them are not marked with any identification. However, when you replace a refill valve, you should only purchase one that is clearly marked "anti-siphon" or carries a UPC shield showing the valve is "code-approved". When in doubt, ask your plumber or hardware store for assistance. Photo courtesy of Fluidmaster, Inc. -Cut-Paste-

Q:Today I purchased another Duo-Flush to retro-fit Kit, They have revised the flush valve The flush handle mechanism.( NOTE THIS IS THE SAME MODEL TOILET i PREVIOUSLY RETRO FITTED) when installed with cable facing down will move to the side of tank and bind keeping flush mechanism open. The handle mechanism prior to revision was thinner and did not bind on tank. The plastic pawl that fits into the cable pull mechanism needs to be about a 1/4" longer do you have an alternate Part to fix this problem. I was able to make it work by placing the pull mechanism with the cable to side, toilet only flushes in single flush mode now.

A:  We got one at Home Depot and it worked at first, though hard to fit into a small tank. We had to put it in a different toilet than the one we wanted to use it with, and then had to rotate the old flush valve pipe in a direction that would accommodate the unit. After maybe a year or so it started leaking around the adapter. It's just held on with some sort of putty and once it starts leaking it doesn't seem to completely stop or starts up again if it does. We looked at Home Depot and Ace for a different type of flush valve pipe but they are all angled so they all need the adapter. Finally we got a different model Danco Next at Ace and it seems to work so far, but since our installer threw away the old clip that holds the refill hose over the refill pipe, I had to make one with a paperclip until going to buy yet another part. This product probably wastes more water if it leaks at the adapter than it will ever save by half-flushing, so I'm putting mine away in a drawer until I find a new non-angled flush valve that it is compatible with without using that goofy silly-putty adapter. It would be good if they just provided a correct base in case you have to remove the toilet tank you might as well do it right - but you can't even find that kind of base in the store.

A:  I had a little different issue. The handle could not be rotated counterclockwise because it hit the tank top. I solved this by mounting the the handle vertical instead of horizontal. See picture. Friends and family like my added label...

A:  Probably not. The box was marked specifically to exclude Kohler, basically because of the diameter of the flapper valve / seat. The Kohler at my daughter's house is ~3" in diameter, mine is closer to 2.5". You would have to replace the stand pipe assembly (FluidMaster I believe) to install it. Perhaps the manufacturer could provide specifics....check their web page. http://www.fluidmaster.com/our-products/toilet-flush-valves-dual-flush-converter-toilet-repair-kits/duo-flush-system.html Hope this helps...

                        Answer This Question

A:  Question is a little vague. The kit comes with and adapter that has kind of a adhesive backed rubber gasket to attach it to the existing stand pipe flapper valve currently in the tank. This won't fit the larger diameter Kohler assembly.

Q:I need to fix s running toilet and figured i might as well convert to a water saver while at it. All the guts of my toilet look old, rusted, bent and on its last legs. Assuming I want to replace everything I see when I lift the lid, does this contain everything I need to do that? If not, what else do I need to buy? Do I need to keep any part of my current system? If yes, which part and if I need to replace that because mine is old, what do you recommend and shat is involved in doing that? I live far from the nearest Home Depot (2 hour round trip) so I want to make sure I get everything I need in one trip.

A:  Yes, unless you have a Mansfield system. If you have Mansfield system you will need the seat and the tank will have to be taken of the toilet and refitted with appropriate seat.

A:  Yes. When I renovated my bathroom I took the tank off my toilet for more room (I left the bowl covered). I bought this kit, the rubber gasket between tank and bowl, the two bolts from tank to bowl, a new stainless steel supply hose, and a new lid and had everything I needed. If you remove the bowl you need the two bolts to the floor, the wax ring, and the bolt cosmetic covers. When you get there open the box and look at the parts diagram and install instructions to see if there is anything additional you want to add or tools you may need. I did mine with basic hand tools in an hour taking my time and reading the instructions.
