Answer This Question

A:  If your dehumidifier is not collecting water, the appliance is not operating properly. For help with this situation, please review the support article titled: "Dehumidifier - Not Collecting Water" on the GE Appliances website. If the issue persists, we recommend you follow the instructions in the "GE Appliances Dehumidifier Limited Warranty" section on pg. 11 of the Owner's Manual: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/d6/d66b8ecf-1a69-4ada-9ec4-d35f997031d4.pdf.

Q:Range of temperatures, high and low dehumidifier will work. How large is bucket? Can pump be turned off forever?

      Answer This Question

A:  There is no pump on Model # ADEL50LZ. Your question was posted on Model # ADEL50LZ product page, just FYI.

      by|Aug 31, 2024

A:  Place the dehumidifier in an area where the temperature will not fall below 41 degrees F and (5 degrees C) or above 90 degrees F (32C). The coils can become covered with frost at temperatures below 41 degrees F, which may reduce performance. The bucket will hold approximately 2 gallons of water. As long as you don't have the hose connected you won't need to use the pump. When the hose is connected, water will go through it instead of running into the bucket. Note: The bucket must be securely in place for the dehumidifier to operate. The bucket must be in place regardless of what method you use to remove water collected by the dehumidifier.

A:  Such an ambiguous response, never used to be like this. Disappointed. The “where was it manufactured” response above was hilariously deflective and posed the company to be American. Pardon me while i render my hand salute.

Q:My unit runs for 1-3 hrs and then shuts off and won't turn back on. It's in pump mode, basket is seated correctly, delay is off, and it's set to Non-Stop mode. Humidity is 55% in the room and temp is 70. Filter is clean. Why won't it stay running?

A:  Mine does the same thing. I set it for 50% humidity. It will run for one cycle, but when it shuts off, it won't restart. It's a piece of junk. Mine is almost two years old, but GE only gives a one year warranty. I guess they know it won't last much longer.

A:  The answer by GE Answers is not helpful. To clarify, the unit requires a 120VAC plug rated for 15 amps. The unit does not consume that much energy. The representative states that it is 770 watts, which is about 6 amps at 120V.

Q:I have connected the garden house and to the drain. However, the bucket filled up and machine stopped working due to the water going into the bucket. The instructions do not explain how this works and honestly i am ready to take it back.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Hello- Thanks so much for reaching out. We can understand your frustration and concern and are happy to help! If water is not draining through the hose, please check the following: ~ Make sure you have a good connection where the garden hose attaches and that there is a rubber washer properly installed in the end of the garden hose. If the connection is loose, gently tighten the connection with pliers. ~ If the hose is pushed into a drain (like a standpipe), make sure it is not pushed in too far. If the hose is touching water, it will not drain. Pull out the hose until the hose outlet is above the water line. ~ Cut off any excess hose so that it is moving in a straight line to the drain. ~ Avoid using an old or damaged garden hose. ~ Clean the dehumidifier drain and hose: ~ If there is water in the bucket, empty the bucket. ~ Unplug the unit. ~ Clean the dehumidifier drain with a baby bottle brush or pipe cleaner (like used for kids crafts). ~ Clean the drain hose with the same. ~ Make sure the drain hose is routed downward. If the drain line is mounted at a steep angle downward less material will accumulate in the hose and drain. We hope this is helpful! If you have any questions, please let us know. We are here to help! Joyce@GEAppliances

                        Answer This Question

A:  Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. This great dehumidifier offers Automatic Defrost. When frost builds up on the evaporator coils, the compressor will cycle off and the fan will continue to run until the frost disappears. When the coil is defrosted, the compressor or fan will automatically restart and dehumidifying will resume. We hope you choose one for your home. Kind regards - Vikki@GEAppliances
