A:  Hello! Thank you for your interest in our dehumidifiers. We would be happy to assist you in choosing the right one for your needs. The APEL50LZ model has a built-in pump and a 5-foot power cord, while the ADHL50LB model features the Smart Dry function, which adjusts the fan speed based on the humidity levels in the room, and a 6-foot power cord. This model does not include a built-in pump. We believe either option will provide great performance. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. A:  After the humidity degree is selected it takes 'a while' to discharge water & lower the display number. Give it 24 hours on high. If that fails, check the Home Depot return/exchange policy. You may be able to exchange it for a new unit.

A:  I have this exact unit, according to the booklet, it states 1. Remove the bucket, 2. Open the drain cover on the side of the unit, it looks like the drain cover is on the left side facing the unit. 3. Attach a garden hose onto the nozzle and run to the drain. 4. Put the bucket back into the machine so it will operate.  Hope this helps.

A:  Hello- Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry that you are having this issue with your dehumidifier not draining into the floor drain, but instead draining into the bucket. Good news though, it sounds like it might be fairly simple. First, we suggest checking to make sure you have a good connection where the garden hose attaches to the unit and that there is a rubber washer in the end of the garden hose. Please also make sure that it is properly seated and clean. Second, we have found putting the hose down too far into the drain so that it is touching the water prevents the water from draining out. If this is the case, pull the hose back up a bit and secure it to keep it in place. Make sure the drain hose is pointed straight down to the floor and is not kinked in any way. If you need to, cut off any excess hose to keep it straight to the drain line. The dehumidifier drips water down a trough that should run straight into the hose when connected. It's purely a gravity drain. Our other suggestion at this point would be to make sure the unit is perfectly level. We recommend getting the manual from our website or we can send you a pdf link if you want to reach out to us via a private message on Social Media. We aren't able to print the manual, but you could always print it at your local library. We hope this helps! Joyce@GEA

A:  Did you look in the product manual? I don’t use a hose.

                            by|May 21, 2023

A:  Make sure there is a rubber washer in the hose connection and it is not cross-threaded onto the plastic threads of the connector. These are two common occurrences and if leaking, will fill up the bucket at some point. The female end of the hose should easily screw on the the plastic male threads. If you felt resistance tightening the hose fitting, then it is cross threaded and you will need to re-seat the hose fitting to make a water-tight seal.

A:  Hello - We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances and would love to help! To ensure proper usage, please use a standard 5/8" garden hose and ensure that there is a rubber washer correctly installed at the end of the garden hose. Check if the garden hose is securely connected, and if it's loose, gently tighten the connection with pliers. You can also refer to page 6 of the owner's manual at https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/61/615338bf-8aeb-4781-8951-c8fda04a6eea.pdf for further guidance. A:  I found that occasionally it would fill the bucket even when the hose was connected. I thought it might have been a hose/gravity issue so I put the dehumidifier on a hard plastic bin which raised it up about 16” off the ground. It allows my hose to flow more freely to my drain in the floor. Has not filled the bucket up since I did this.
