Q:Is this set for a 2 stage furnace?
by|Nov 16, 2022

Answer This Question
A: The Nest Thermostat works with most 24V heating and cooling systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, and heat pumps with either forced air or radiant delivery.
It works with conventional systems that have one stage of heating and cooling and a second stage of either heating or cooling.
It works with heat pumps that have one stage of heating and cooling and either aux or emergency heat. And it works with HVAC fans. We recommend checking our compatibility checker to ensure that your system is compatible with Nest Thermostat: https://store.google.com/us/widget/compatibility/thermostat

A: In theory. If the wifi goes out for a second the device disconnects. Even if the connection is regained immediately, it remains "offline" in the app until being manually restarted. Truly terrible design.

A: Yes, as with most smart thermostats, you can download the manufacturer’s app on your phone and control it through that.
by|Oct 19, 2022
A: Absolutely. Once you add the thermostat to the Google Home app, you can easily control it using the app even when you’re not at home as long as your thermostat and Home app (phone or tablet) are both online. If your thermostat doesn't appear in the app, make sure you've added it to your account and fully set it up. If your thermostat is offline in the Home app, we suggest tying some troubleshooting steps here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9243422

Answer This Question
A: Thanks for your interest. Most 24 V heating and cooling systems are compatible with Nest thermostats, but there are some systems that aren’t compatible. Nest thermostats are designed to use very little power, and in many cases they can use your system’s heating and cooling wires to get enough consistent power. And though Nest thermostats would generally work without a common (C) wire, there are some systems that would require a C wire on the new Nest Thermostat like a heat only or cool only systems. A: I have no idea. I also had about 20 years old thermostat. I went onto Google Nest website and followed their directions on how to determine which model will work with my current wires. I took off my old thermostat and compared wires. Sorry, I can't be more helpful.
