Q:Will this work with a seven wire system?
by|Nov 28, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: No. Nest Thermostat works with most 24V heating and cooling systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, and heat pumps with either forced air or radiant delivery that has a maximum of 6 wires.
We suggest checking the Nest Learning Thermostat which is the fully-featured model of all Nest thermostats. It has a 10-wire configuration which makes it compatible with up to 95% of the 24 V HVAC systems in the US. It supports up to 3-Stage Heating (W1, W2 & W3) and 2-Stage Cooling (Y1 & Y2), including support for humidifiers and dehumidifiers, and dual transformer HVAC systems.
You can use our online compatibility checker to ensure that your system is compatible with Nest thermostats. Here’s the link: https://store.google.com/us/widget/compatibility/thermostat

Q:this thermostat have C wire connection
by|Sep 19, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Yes. Your Nest thermostat gets its power from your HVAC system’s wiring. There are cases where these wires can't deliver enough power to support the Nest thermostat's features, then they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wifi network. In such cases, installing a common(C) wire between your HVAC and Nest thermostat will help fix such issues.

Answer This Question
A: The new Nest Thermostat can be powered by the electrical wires of your HVAC system. It also uses 2-AAA alkaline batteries as a backup, or to supplement if your system can’t deliver enough power. You can learn more about Nest Thermostat here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9248184

A: Yes, it has a battery backup in case you have a power outage, and it runs on the same low voltage leads that power any thermostat which is connected to your HVAC system.

Q:Does the Nest work with a zoned system. I have 3 floors with 3 Tstats with 6 dampers. If I buy 3 Nest Tstats. Will they work?
by|Aug 6, 2022

Answer This Question
A: Yes, it can work. You will need three thermostats. They will work individually on their own. If you want a more cohesive system, get the more expensive Nest thermostat so you can link them together. The less expensive one cannot be linked.
by|Aug 13, 2022
A: Nest Thermostat is usually compatible with zoned systems that use multiple thermostats, including zoned systems with dampers. However, some zoned systems that require thermostat damper control aren’t compatible with Nest thermostats, while other zoned systems may need a C or common wire, or the Nest Power Connector, to be compatible. We suggest contacting a Nest Pro to help you. A local Nest Pro installer will also be able to tell if your system is Nest compatible (and rewire it to be Nest compatible, if needed).
