Q:Would these tiles accomodate traffic from a wheelchair or walker?
by|Aug 16, 2016

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. Our Wood Grain Reversible Foam Tiles are durable to common foot traffic but a walker may puncture the foam. An alternative is our StayLock Orange Peel Top PVC Plastic Interlocking Floor Tile. This floor tile is durable like rubber but provides cushion similar to foam. Q:I had a small mold problem and we are ripping up the carpet (the source of the mold) Would this be a suitable replacement for the whole area about 600 square feet? Will it stay in place well, with kids playing and furniture on it? And it won't buckle up with just the interlocking pieces keeping it together? Thanks :)

A:  Our Wood Grain Reversible Foam Interlocking Tiles would be ideal in a basement. The interlocks would keep the foam tiles together and they would not buckle, providing a 1/2" space is left for expansion (with a wall to wall installations). However, since you have experienced a mold problem in the area, we would recommend one of our interlocking raised tiles such as our Max Tile Vinyl Interlocking Raised Modular Floor Tile (model # MAXTMAP26) or our StayLock Orange Peel PVC Interlocking Basement Floor Tile (model # STLOP12X12GRY26). These tiles are waterproof and would allow moisture and air to flow under the tiles. To view these products, please enter the model numbers in the search box on homedepot.com. A:  We did. It sinks in and leaves a dent if you move it but they are so affordable you could easily replace the one or two tiles if necessary.
