Q:What length/width screw to mount metal legs (0.25 inch thick metal plate) to this 1.5 inch thick Birch butcher block? Are washers recommended? Is any particular head type better (hex, Phillips)?

Answer This Question
A: Rick-use a wood screw that is 1.5" long and a washer. That should give you plenty of holding wood and it will not penetrate the surface. The width of the screw will depend on your metal plate attachment.
