Q:The instructions say that you’re supposed to use a screwdriver to put a wood screw through the side of the receptacle somehow, but our receptacle has no hole on any side into which a screw could be inserted. Are we supposed to drill a hole into the side of it? If so, into what? There’s no dry wall or beams/studs up there into which a screw could be inserted as far as where the instructions direct you to do so. Like most purchasable DIY things the instructions for this are AWFUL.

A: You need to hang the light from a correctly installed box in the ceiling. You may need to change the electrical box to a stronger fan box that has an adjustable spreader bar to secure it between 2 joists. Then you can secure the cable to the box properly.

A: Look for a stud or beam somewhere in the vicinity of the box. Put the screw into either of those. You may have to drill through the box to get access to the stud/beam.

A: The down rods can be removed so that it hangs down from just the chain.
by|Oct 29, 2018
A: Hello Chridty.
We would not recommend this, as the rods are the mounting points for the chains.
by|Oct 24, 2018
A: No. The down rods hold the eyelets that hold the chain. The eyelets cannot be screwed into the base.

A: If you separate the wires, you will see one side has ribs and the otherside is smooth
by|Jan 9, 2019
A: Just make sure you attach the wires properly. I incurred the same problem and just attached wire for wire. Don't forget attaching the ground wire. My wires were clear and smooth as well. The light unit should work fine after connections.

A: Lights up a room pretty well, including the table. Yes light is directed upward as well.

A: I have it in the dining room about 35" above a 8' table. The fixture does light up the room nicely but your right the light is for the most part aimed upwards. I have slightly darkened area right down the middle of the table with the outer edges of my table lit up from the ambient light coming from the edges of the fixture and the light from the ceiling. However with the seven 60W bulbs in the fixture it lights the room up enough to illuminate the table.

A: Yes we have it over a dining room table. The bulbs that come with it are not the brightest but can be changed out.

A: It depends on how low you hang it. We have it over our kitchen sink and use it as indirect lighting. It's perfect for what we wanted it for. It puts off a nice glow, but it does focus the light up.

A: Yes. I have it above my Kitchen island. The light wood didn't go with my décor, so I stained the wood. It looks great and it was a good price for the size of it.
