Q:Does this need to be secured to a wall or can it be freestanding. I plan to use this in my bathroom to store towels, bath and beauty supplies (shampoo and soaps, etc.) and possibly some first aid supples (bandaids, etc. in a small basket) I don’t think it would be a lot of weight for those items but want to avoid tipping. The bottom looks pretty solid but I wanted to ask out of caution. Does anyone currently use it this way without anchoring it to the wall? I suppose putting heavier items on the bottom would help. I could just put towels on top shelves. Thanks! Judi

Answer This Question

A:  I secured mine to the wall. One thing to consider is that if the baseboard runs behind the unit there will be a space behind it also. I removed my baseboard and the unit did fit nicely up against the wall - but I still opted to secure the top to a wall joist.

Q:What is this product made of. Is it wood or MDF or Manufactured wood?

A:  It comes already assembled and seems to be pretty solid. We've had it quite a while and it's still in very good shape. Can't tell if it's real wood or manufactured wood as it is painted completely. It doesn't have the usual foldable cardboard back. The back is solid piece and it's a nice addition to our bathroom

A:  20-3/4” wide 26” high inside Yes one adjustable /removable shelf

            by|Jun 20, 2019

A:  There are 3 removable shelves total. My wife is using them all in the top part. That leaves a big bottom part open with no shelves (except for the bottom of the cabinet of course). There are holes for the adjustable shelves in the top and bottom parts, even though we are only using them in the top part. The inside dimensions for the bottom part (bear in mind the door frame is slightly smaller than the inside dimensions from side to side). 21" W (+ 1/8 inch or so), 26-1/4" H (pretty much exactly) and 14-1/2" D (+ 1/8 inch or so).

A:  I did put this piece to the wall but I also remodeled the baseboards and did not put any behind the piece. I think it came out good. It did not come with any space pieces.

Q:How can you tell what materials are in any of the Home Decorators Collection items? We want to avoid MDF and it seems that every time we look at an item the description changes (as do the prices) and is sometimes contradictory. A very frustrating website to use and gather information.

                          Answer This Question

A:  The paint is what I would call a standard white color. As far as finish, I think it's closer to a satin finish. It doesn't appear to be very shiny. In my opinion, it has just the perfect amount of sheen. My husband and I purchased the Naples (white color) bathroom linen cabinet, 60" vanity and the cabinet that goes above the toilet about one year ago. For store bought cabinetry, we have been very pleased with this product. We even bought the Naples 48" vanity and matching mirror in a different color for another bathroom. No problems with any of it. It seems to be a good product thus far. No complaints.

A:  I don’t think they would work out side by side because of the top crown type molding.

A:  I don’t think you can put them together. There is crown molding at the top which would prevent them from fitting flush together.

A:  There will be a gap because the top molding piece sticks out about 1/4”-1/2”. It’s not flush to the side of the cabinet.

A:  Side by side cabinets will look fine, but the top has a crown on three sides. In front & on each side. You will have to saw of (not a big job, we had to do it so it would fit flush against the wall) one side of each cabinet so that they fit flush.

A:  I think it would look ok. It's a nice piece of furniture with nice details.

A:  The back of the cabinet is flush with the wall. The sides extend to the floor and even with the back. So if you have a baseboard, it should be removed behind the cabinet so it can be anchored properly.

                                                      by|Feb 5, 2019

A:  The unit does have a molding trim at the top on the front and both sides. The bottom does not. When I installed mine I did cut the wall baseboard trim behind the unit to get a good fit to the wall. I will add that I installed my unit in a corner and the top trim did keep it away from the side wall and I did not cut the trim on the side. I think it looks good.
