Answer This Question

A:  This model does not have the ability to display on/off times.

by|Sep 25, 2020

A:  I am not aware of any such function via your thermostat, but I do receive emails from Honeywell comparing 2019 to 2020 usage each month. If this is a new install, you might have to wait for a year to get such comparison charts. Hope this helps...

    Q:Is this 5g capable

    Answer This Question

A:  No. It uses 2.4 GHz wifi connection. 5 GHz is not needed since data rates are very low and 2.4 has greater range. However, experience with the Honeywell system is less than satisfactory. Suggest using Ecobee.

    by|Jun 18, 2020

A:  This model is not compatible with 5G networks.

    by|Jun 11, 2020

A:  I don’t believe so, it’s very reliable on 4g. Doesn’t need anything faster than that.

      by|Jun 16, 2020

A:  Very Easy to install. My unit still did not go on, so I callled the 800# and was very well treated by the rep. They even did a video chat so they could show me exactly where to troubleshoot on my a/c unit. Great Service.

        by|Jun 16, 2020

A:  This unit works on a 2.5ghz wireless network. As long as your router or wireless modem allows your 5G phone to connect to it then it will work. Just to clarify 5G is your cell phone network and the thermostat connects to your home network not directly to your cell phone. Honeywell has an app that installs on your phone that makes the connection between the two.

Q:Does this work with electric baseboard heating
        by|May 14, 2020

        Answer This Question

A:  No, it does not work with electric baseboard heating.

        by|May 14, 2020

A:  I have no idea if this works with baseboard heaters, but if you can find something else - anything that works - get THAT. The WIFI in this is terrible. It loses WIFI connection frequently and reconnecting is a nightmare. I have a very strong wireless network and this thermostat is 10 feet away from the router. I've contacted Honeywell several times and basically, they say it is performing the way it is designed to perform, but in that case, shame on Honeywell - they used to make decent stuff. It would be hard to make this less intuitive, including the TotalConnect apps and site - everything about this is terrible, by modern standards. If you don't plan to use WIFI, this works great - but the version without WIFI is quite a bit cheaper. If you are looking at this for WIFI capabilities or home integration/app control, I strongly recommend finding something else - it's truly terrible at those things.

        by|May 14, 2020

A:  If you currently have a wall thermostat for your baseboard heaters, I would think it should work. However you should probably contact the Honeywell people to be sure.

Q:I put the cr2032 battery in unit and it wont power on.

          Answer This Question

A:  Plug the unit into the wall and it should work. If not, it may be a bad battery.

          by|Nov 16, 2019

A:  The battery doesn't power the unit. You have to have a "hot" wire coming in that many old thermostats didn't require. Check that you have it wired properly or contact an HVAC person to run the proper cable with an extra wire.

          by|Nov 19, 2019

A:  I believe that battery is only to preserve settings during power failure. The thermostat will power up when connected to your air conditioner or heater.

            by|Nov 21, 2019

              A:  Try testing/rechecking your wiring.

              by|Nov 19, 2019

A:  I believe it has to be wired to your air conditioning to turn on. This battery is to just keep the time and settings when the power goes off.

Q:Does this Honeywell Wi-Fi Programmable Touchscreen Thermostat work with propane gas furnace heating and electric cooling system ?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Most likely yes. Being propane doesn't preclude it from using this thermostat but there are other criteria that might. Check out the manual for more details and if necessary get an HVAC professional or someone else that is more familiar with your system to make a determination.

                  by|Nov 5, 2019

A:  It will work with any conventional HVAC system with a 24 VAC control transformer that can deliver 24 VAC to the thermostat. If you do not have 24 VAC at your thermostat but have an unused wire at the thermostat, you will be able to use that extra wire to deliver it. The web is full of good explanations and videos about how to do this or you can hire an HVAC installer to do it for you. This is a good unit (I still have one) but there are more modern Honeywell models available. I also recommend that you look at the Ecobee brand line. I have very good luck with them and they have excellent energy saving features, which you might appreciate with propane. I am less of a fan of Nest.

                  by|Nov 9, 2019

A:  If you have all the inputs and outputs yeah it should. It's a regular programmable thermostat that connects to your smart phone via the wifi signal in your home. The controls are no different in terms of wiring than any other thermostat on the market.

A:  The front is easy to remove by pulling it off. You can then see the battery type/size. However, it shouldn't be the battery. The battery is for backup when the power is shut off. Check to ensure there is power going to the unit by looking to see if the circuit breaker in the home main power box has not been tripped.

                      by|Aug 1, 2019

A:  The battery is a CR2032 coin style battery. If you suffered an extended home power outage the unit may have just turned itself off.

                      by|Aug 1, 2019

A:  This thermostat does not have a battery. It derives its power from the 24VAC transformer at your HVAC system. If it is dark, I suggest checking the thermostat functions to see if it is still functioning correctly; if not, then check the wiring. the wiring. If all of the controls work properly, and you can see the changes on the screen in the daylight even if a little dark, then you probably have a defective backlight on the display screen and Honeywell will have to replace it. I would call them even if it is out of warranty. They may replace it anyway because this should not happen.

A:  You can watch and keep track on your phone. I don't know if you can "lock" a temp, but you can monitor and adjust the temp from your phone....if that helps ?

                            by|Mar 22, 2019

A:  I have other Honeywell wireless thermostats that allow you to set heating and cooling limits in the configuration area, and to password protect that area. You will have to send an email to Honeywell for this model as I do not recall. They will respond quickly.

                            by|Mar 26, 2019

A:  Unfortunately, this model does not have lock function. But, you can check the temperature whenever, wherever you are (internet/wifi connected) and adjust the temperature to the correct setting if someone fools with it.

A:  You should be able to do it but I have not tried it. Download the installation instructions which should answer the question.

                                by|Mar 22, 2019

A:  No, not with this model, although these are really good thermostats. For a lockable version, still accessible and programmable via Wi-Fi, I purchased model RTH9585WF, which is a little pricier (so search for a better price or wait until it is on sale).
