A:  Mine has to be started with the hand-pull.  My electrician either said it couldn’t be done or it was going to be a big hassle.  I can’t remember witch.

A:  Yes. I installed 2 of them in rooms that have wall switches with three 3 speed selector switches.

A:  Yes you can. The wall switch just supplies power to the fan, you would still use the pull chain on the fan to set the speed of the fan, i.e. high, medium, low (it also has an off setting after low). The wall switch would then turn it on or off to the last setting of the pull chain.
