Q:Can the case be disassembled without damaging it?
So the lid and the section below it would be trays?
In other words removing the bolts/screws and the latch pins. What tools would be required?

A: BoRR, no, the case is not designed to be disassembled. The case is riveted together for strength.

A: Most likely because American consumers will continue to buy these up because of price. There are US made alternatives which I am sure most of us are aware of. its our consumers choice which will dictate these things in the long run.
