Q:I have to replace my old Insinkerator from 1986 which just seized up, only makes a buzzing sound when powered on. The label says 333/SS 1/2 HP. How difficult is it to replace? Should I get a plumber for something this old?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Justin, thanks for reaching out! Sometimes a buzzing sound is an indication of a jammed disposal. If you've already tried the troubleshooting steps here: https://support.insinkerator.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/515, and the unit is still buzzing, then it needs to be replaced. Installing an InSinkErator garbage disposal is a straightforward process for any handy person or plumber. The video on our installation videos page explains exactly what you need to do from start to finish, and there are also some comprehensive instructions that come in the box. Please check out this link: https://support.insinkerator.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/576.

A: Lift & Latch made my installation a nightmare. It is 1000 times harder to align the discharge tube with this feature and the instructions and their website are no help for this.
by|Sep 18, 2023
A: Thanks for your question, Alex. Yes, the Badger 5 and Badger 500 have the same attachment to the sink, and for the plumbing, if you're using a 90-degree elbow pipe, the tailpipe provided with the Badger 500 or new Badger disposer should line up with your current plumbing configuration without modification.

Q:What is amp draw on 1/2 hp Badger garbage disposal
by|Sep 8, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hi Steve, thank you for your question. We recommend that disposers, whether wired directly or plugged in, be connected to a 15- to 20-amp circuit. Household disposers have a spike immediately upon start-up, lasting less than a second. Due to this spike, a 15- to 20-amp circuit is required, which meets the requirements for this brief load.
